Description:

It is time to give a modern and professional look to our desktop! The new theme makes more clever use of orange (not over-use it) and is mainly color-neutral. It is designed for Ubuntu in mind but can be used in other distros that may bear warm colors.

Installation: (requires pixbuf theme engine)
Very simple. Just double click the file newwave-(xxx).gtp where (xxx) is the version number e.g. 050. Note that if you have previous version of the theme in your home folder you need to remove it first. You may need to log out then log in to make all changes appear (e.g. handlers, lines). For more information on how to fix Firefox's menubar text and how to use the theme in root programs see the README file.

Extras:
The package also contains:
- New Wave Configurator (GUI),
- Emerald themes,
- Compiz-fusion settings,
- Second theme with dark menus,
- Firefox skin,
- Some metacity tweaks.
- Time applet tips.
Theme for xfwm4 (Xubuntu) can be downloaded in the Download section of this page.

 Looks great, but...

Hello.
Thank you for this new release. It looks wonderfull, but could you please add a version or some method for the old buttons? The round ones from version 0.59 or below?
The only flaw (IMHO) on your GREAT theme are the buttons. (The minimize, maximize, close ones). They look SO much better now than in previous version, still I like rounded ones more. Any way I can have them in 0.70 version? (and above)

Thanks and good job!

If you are using compiz you can install emerald. There is theme with round buttons for emerald that is pretty good. As far as the metacity - I haven't thought that somebody may need it but I will upload a updated version to gnome-look soon.

 Colors?

I absolutely love this theme, I was just wondering, is there any way to have it based around a color other than orange? Preferably a blue or a green? If not, that's fine. Congrats again on the great work!

That is really difficult to do as the theme is based on already drawn images. If somebody wants to change the sources I will give them to him.

 Popup amd dropdowns

by Betopu on: Dec 23 2008

Score 50%

In the former version of your theme I used to have gray dropdowns in the main menu and also grey popup windows (i.e. when you right-click your mouse). Now they are both white... Is that the correct color? or I'm having a bug. I prefer the gray bg color so If its a bug let me now and will see what can be done, if don't I think I'll go back to 0.6.2

Thanks a lot

Yes - white is the correct color. I updated the theme and you can now use dark menus. Just install the theme labeled new-wave070-darkmenus.tar.gz

Thanks that's superfast! Great work! When I remember that this theme was candidate to be included in Ubuntu as default I can't imagine what the f%&* were the canonical staff thinking... This is a serious lack of taste on their behalf...

Glad to hear that you have the correct taste in things. I'll be sure to consult you whenever I fear my own will not suffice.

Firstly, your theme is just great. One small thing I would like, and that is a openbox theme to work with the rest of the theme. Anyway keep on the good job ;) .

Unfortunately OpenBox theme could not be made to match New Wave because the line under the title bar could not be removed in using the themerc file. If you know a way to do it please send me a message.

In the archive there are 2 archives:new-wave071.tar.gz and new-wave071-darkmenu.tar.gz . You allso need to extract those in /usr/share/themes, because those are the GTK themes.
Cheers
