Description:

A dark (black & white) theme for gnome desktop.
Thanks to Gnome Fanatic for the name!

I just recieved mail being told this
theme is the default in PCLOS Gnome 2008 !

More info and download here: http://linuxgator.org/

suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!
click apply to apply the wallpaper!

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

To read full changelog read changelog.txt in
the SlicknesS folder.

 Great themes

by ralfmichiels on: May 15 2008

Score 50%

I just wanted to say thanks for your nice work! I have a question about your Technix theme. I followed the instructions for the artwiz fonts, but I can't seem to make them work. I tried to use fontforge to convert them, but that seems more difficult than it sounds. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks! Glad you like it!

well, as far as I remember I have never
given any instructions on the artwiz fonts :)

I just tell everyone who asks to follow the
readme in the package (that is what I did)

You can try looking in the package manager
if you find the artwiz fonts there, but if
not, then the only way is to try to install
from the package :)

hope this helps

I'm sure it's not since freemind seems to
be a java app and this is a gtk theme :)

where can i get that long bar across the right of your screenshots, it looks amazing.

your theme looks great btw (i cant install it now since my linux box is *sniff* not working right now..., but i will as soon as i can). Also, does the firefox fix also work on Ff3-RC?

also, what icons are you using in the second screenshot?

the icon theme it suggests is this one:

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

the sysinfo:

http://conky.sourceforge.net/

and the theme works great with ff3 without
a fix since ff3beta5.

How do you get the grayed background?

Without that there isn't enough contrast to discern the letters.

Thanks!

Could you update the conkyrc download to be current with the one in your screenshots? The one that you link to has no background (to provide contrast to the text) and is styles slightly differently (labels like System are smaller and not bold and some of the horizontal rules are missing). Thanks!

Also, how did you enable transparency on the panels and panel-menus?

Thanks!

Thanks!

for the transparent stuff:

if you use compiz then:

in ccsm - general options - opacity

(name=gnome-panel | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

and transparency = 80

in ccsm - blur - alpha blur windows

(name=gnome-panel | name=usp | type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

blur = gaussian
alpha blur = true (checked)

for conkybg I just edited my wallpaper :)

I will update it soon.

Could you post the wallpaper that has the edited section for conky?

I really like the way this theme looks by the way. Best I've seen in a while!

 using GTK 2.10

by zzricezz on: May 27 2008

Score 50%

Awesome themes, using it on fluxbox on my ps3. Seems like there are some options that require the latest version of the GTK but the current YDL only have 2.10 installed.

/home/jimmy/.themes/SlicknesS/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:91: error: unexpected identifier `co
lorize_scrollbar', expected character `}'

I had to comment out colorize_scrollbar, toolbarstyle and style to get it to work. Is there a fix or I just need to live with it?

Compiling gtk-2.12 was a messed and i would not wanna try that again :)..

Yeah those are probably later added features,
so if it works, it shouldn't be a problem
since the theme only uses pixmap engine
anyway :)

Thanks!
