suggestions very welcome!

PLS! tell me what you think!

!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!

To install:
1.Download the file to your desktop
2.Right click the file and select extract here, then another archive pops up,do
the same for that.
3.open a terminal and run these commands:

first
sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/SlicknesS /usr/share/themes

second (this one fixes firefox, don't need this for ff3, only 2 This fix is made by user twrock, so if he wants me to delete it i will)
cp /usr/share/themes/SlicknesS/userChrome.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome

4.Open the theme manager, you can now
see the SlicknesS theme as a theme,
when you click on it , it suggests
taners amazing wallpaper he made for this theme!!

http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/black-white+2+Style?content=72619

any problems with the install let me know!!!!

One REALLY HUGE thank you to artist Taner
for his fantastic wallpaper!

Changelog:

2.2.2 probably the last update, this should
fix the message of an engine "" not installed
I can't try it myself if it works (since I don't have
gnome installed) so if anyone would be kind
to let me know if it works, it would be kind :)
This will probably be my last fix as I'm not on
gnome anymore.

2.2.1 Fixed my previous F**kup. (at least I hope so)
(it's been tested on ubunut 7.10). If anyone still
has any kind of problem please be so kind and let me
know!

 Great Work but...

First really great Work but i have a few problems...

1. The urls in firefox will be completed automatically. I can't read the Urls because they are written with black colour and the "background" is black, too.

2. My Panel on the bottom doesn't show the open programs complete.

I hope you know what I mean and you will excuse my horrible englisch ;)

Thanks!

You mean that the text on the buttons
on the panel get cropped when set under
30px or so? that is going to be fixed in
next version (very soon), as for setting
the (bottom) panel to anything else than 32 px using
this theme will make the panel look
veeeeeery ugly :)

Thanks and glad you got the firefox
problem sorted!

Sorry to bother you again Robert. I have the same problem as halcapote with his applet memory but in my case it's about Exaile's tray icon. Every time I minimize Exaile to tray there's a gray rectangular background under Exaile's icon on the panel (in the tray area of course). Is there a workaround for this ? If necessary I can upload a screen-shot of that. Just let me know.

regards

conu

the panel is awesome man... works OK now (you did great with those lights effects when hovering over)... however that exaile tray icon problem is still there... (not sure why)
also what's that windows logo when you do:
Add to panel > New menu ? -:))

Thanks!

I just installed exaile music player and
I have it minimized to tray and it's working
flawlessly... try to restart x or something, as for the new menu windows logo
I have no clue what that could be :)

Yes, I fixed that exaile stuff (had to install some python-gnome.... I don't know what). And the win logo too... It was because of a different icon package... duh !
So all's fine now. Thanks a lot !

 Transparency

Your theme is simply awesome. But for some reason, the taskbar for my ubuntu 7.04 is not transparent. I installed Compiz Fusion and applied your theme, but it's not transparent. The same happened when I tried to use another gtk2 theme that was supposed to have a transparent taskbar.

Also, I have Compiz Settings Manager, but I don't have System->Prefs->Advanced desktop effects settings which I think is the problem. Is this because I need gutsy or herron?

Thank you very much!!!

If you have compiz loaded just move the
mouse cursor over the panel, hold down
the button "Alt" then scroll downwards on
the scrollbutton... scroll until it's transparent
enough for you ;)

Hope this helps!

About that, it seems to only work until I restart the computer or just x in gnome, it goes back to not being transparent again. Is there a way to make it permanent?

Yeah, just add (name=gnome-panel)
in the opacity settings in ccsm, set it to
something between 80 - 90... if below 80 it's
too transparent (well that's my opinion....)
try different values :)

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

 Nice

I just made an account here so I could let you know I really dig this theme. I'm new to linux and was looking for a dark theme and this is the best one I've seen so far.

That said, I have the same complaint that someone mentioned before (and apparently resolved) with the Firefox URL drop box having black text on a black background. If you mouse over it you can read it, but it's still a little annoying. Some of the fonts might look a little better if they were a shade whiter as well. But minor complaints only.

Great work, thanks a lot for this. Looking forward to the new version you mentioned.

Thanks a lot!!

If you followed my install instructions
the drop down on firefox should be fine...
also, I just checked firefox 3 beta and they
seem to have fixed the bug there
now so that works too (at least for me).

What font isn't white enough for you?

Hey, thanks for pointing out the Firefox fix. I installed it simply by dragging and dropping the archive into the theme editor so I didn't notice it was in your instructions, which worked perfectly.

The font thing I was referring to was just sort of everything: the date and time, the window title in the task bar, the menu in open windows (File, Edit, View, etc.) But it's really just a preference and not a problem, really. I'm probably going to change the font Ubuntu uses anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it. Seemed like a bigger deal last night when it was dark and I was tired.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Great! Thanks!

Well, I had it all white (#ffffff) first...
but that was too much contrast for me (it's
hard to read if it's too much contrast)
so I took the contrast down a little
(I'm pretty happy with it myself now)
if you want to change it I can help you
with that :)
