Description:

X11 mouse theme with the crystal look&feel, there are four versions in the package.

Changelog:

CrystalCursors 1.1.1:
-this release only fixes some hot spot-related bugs into the left-handed version.
Many thanks to Markus Bauer and Bastian Venthur for the report and patch.

CrystalCursors 1.1:
this release fixes only the build system, changes includes:
-in left handed themes the symmetric cursors aren't flipped anymore
-now it's finally possible to install the cursors system-wide:
all you have to do is to edit the Makefile and change the first line
export PREFIX=$(HOME)/.icons/ with a properdirectory, usually
export PREFIX=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons is a good choice,
that should also make simpler to build rpms and other packages

CrystalCursors 1.0:
-corrected the green version of copy cursor
-now the colorize.sh script produces a veery better result
(and is fairly slower, btw :-))

CrystalCursors 0.9:
-corrected a little asymmetry in the left pointers
-all themes have an almost autogenerated left-handed (i.e. flipped) version

CrystalCursors 0.8:
-modified the shiny effect of the hands
-all borders of the 32x32 versionnow are more sharp
-remade all the shadows of the white version
CrystalCursors 0.7:
-a 32x32 version of wach cursor theme(useful for very big screen
resolutions) to enable it set the environment variable XCURSOR_SIZE=32
-watch busy cursor updated with the one in the current crystal icons
-green theme reworked
-lighter shadows
-reworked all the svg images
-little modification in colorize.sh(thanks to Tika)

Could you make this default to KDE?

Thanks!!! You are still my default!

 ...doesn't work?!

hi,

please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but...

i downloaded the tarball, unpacked it. make ran smoothly and claimed that everything had been installed properly.

however, my /home/.icons was empty, and all dirs containing the icons did contain files, but neither ending with .png nor any graphics; at least, xv wasn't able to display the icons.

any suggestions?

thx in advance
markus

Are you sure that you are logged with the same user that installed it?
For each user you have to run
make;make install
and it will create the directory .icons

hi,

thx for the reply.

maybe i wasn't prescise enough...

make ran w/o complaints and created directories like green_cursors, blue_cursors etc. these dirs contain files like base_arrow_down, hand etc., which i expect to be icons.

but these file have _no_ extension like .png and if i open them with xv or any other graphic viewer, i get a lot of rubbish but no icons...

any help is appreciated
cheers
markus

In kde 3.2.2 you can use the kcontrol app, on the peripherals/mouse and make it import the theme automagically!

... which doesn't help very much if "make" fails in creating the actual icons, i.e. png's... :-(

cheers

I dont think that kcontrol uses make to create the files on the right positions.

Did you tried it before complain?

kcontrol doesn't recognize the archive as a cursor theme.

 32x32

I can't get the 32x32 cursors to work...
In .Xdefaults I have:

Xcursor.size: 32

As KDE is starting I see the 32x32 cursor but just before it says "restoring session" it goes back to the small one.
When I start to log out the 32x32 arrow is back... but if I hit Cancel in the End Session box it's back to the small ones.

Have you tried changing the cursor through the KDE Control Center (kcontrol) for your user account? Every account can pick an individual cursor.

 The Hand?

Really awesom theme, it is now my default! I hope this makes it into the next KDE release!

Just a quick question: If you compare the hand-icon in say the blue-classic and blue crystal themes, in the colorized version the light and dark areas are reversed. Perhaps it would look more natural if the shadows weren't flipped?

Just a thought....
Excellent work, keep it up!
