Description:

X11 mouse theme with the crystal look&feel, there are four versions in the package.

Changelog:

CrystalCursors 1.1.1:
-this release only fixes some hot spot-related bugs into the left-handed version.
Many thanks to Markus Bauer and Bastian Venthur for the report and patch.

CrystalCursors 1.1:
this release fixes only the build system, changes includes:
-in left handed themes the symmetric cursors aren't flipped anymore
-now it's finally possible to install the cursors system-wide:
all you have to do is to edit the Makefile and change the first line
export PREFIX=$(HOME)/.icons/ with a properdirectory, usually
export PREFIX=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons is a good choice,
that should also make simpler to build rpms and other packages

CrystalCursors 1.0:
-corrected the green version of copy cursor
-now the colorize.sh script produces a veery better result
(and is fairly slower, btw :-))

CrystalCursors 0.9:
-corrected a little asymmetry in the left pointers
-all themes have an almost autogenerated left-handed (i.e. flipped) version

CrystalCursors 0.8:
-modified the shiny effect of the hands
-all borders of the 32x32 versionnow are more sharp
-remade all the shadows of the white version
CrystalCursors 0.7:
-a 32x32 version of wach cursor theme(useful for very big screen
resolutions) to enable it set the environment variable XCURSOR_SIZE=32
-watch busy cursor updated with the one in the current crystal icons
-green theme reworked
-lighter shadows
-reworked all the svg images
-little modification in colorize.sh(thanks to Tika)

it is.

If you want to improve it, I can offer
some help, if you want! Can I help you?

Thanks!!

 Help Test this pleaz

by doctorture on: Aug 3 2003

When I try to adjust the frame size the cursor keeps showing the two arrows cursor (when adjusting) even after I release the mouse button and adjust the frame size.

Try to adjust the frame on this site with
konqueror:

http://www.fly.to/neshp
(it is a page with nes roms)

I don't know it it is a cursor bug or konqueror one, but I suggest it is on the cursor theme.

Thanks!!!

I fear it's a Konqueror/qt problem (see http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54359#c1 and http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53101) kde looks for cursors with strange hash values as the name, but, some cursors i never found what's their real name ( for example almost on my system the DnD cursors in konqueror never worked), and i didn't found so hepful neither the output of a strace of a whole kde session(only the hash values that I knew already where present), but some cursors still refuses to change.
But maybe a future version of qt will resolve it.

Mart,

I saw that posts and there they tagged the bug as RESOLVED.
I am not using KDE CVS and an updated QT. I use the distro Mandrake 9.1 default.
So I cant really comment any more because I dont have the latest sources here to test.

What I will do is making this test with other cursor themes and I will report the result here as soon as I test it, ok?

Do you mind if I contact you by email?

Thanks again, your xcursor theme is
very beautifull, it is my default!!! ;-)

Hi, Mart!!!

i continued investigating the problem and found this one:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53259

In this page, its said that this is basically not a bug, as X
simply doesn't have the neccessary cursors, and can be effectively solved with
a few symlinks.

In this another, they show how to resolve the issue (list of symlinks):
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54359

I still have made no tests because I am not at home. As soon as I get there I will try this and report to you, ok?

Thanks for your response!!!

Mart,

I made the test with blueglass too.

Same problem, maybe the khtml used by konqueror is using hard-coded cursors, seems like it is not your fault.

I dont know why, but in the blueglass cursors directory there are files that you dont have, and vice-versa...
The blueglass directory has:
crosshair
crossed_circle
draped_box
ll_angle
lr_angle

but these files dont appear in crystal cursors directory.

This is no problem?

Thanks for your help, Mart!!!

 Partially works...

Okay, first off, I think these cursors are nice, yet maybe a little too cartoonish. That said, I like them enough that I'm using them.

Now the bad: only certain cursors work on my system.

Here's what I did: I first logged in as 'su', then did a 'make' and 'make install'. Then, like the install instructions on this web page said (why isn't all the directions in the same place?) I made a .icons/default/ directory and put the index.theme file in there and made another directory named 'cursors' in there and put the blue cursors in there from 'cursors' directory in the tarball. I restarted KDE and re-logged in and got the crystal cursor, but when it changes to the hand cursor, it's normal. Also, when I hover the cursor over the edges of a window, the arrow cursors are also normal.

Did I do something wrong?

Maybe I understood the problem...
At the moment the install script installs the cursors in the user's home, and when you have installed it as root you have placed the theme in /root/.icons/crystal, so you see the theme only in the applicatios that runs as root.
At the moment you must do the install scipt for every user, or if you want a system-wide configuration you must place the cursors in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons (almost in a Mandrake/redHat distribution)

I suggest coloring the KILL cursor
to the theme color too.
Maybe a HAND cursor too???

What do you think, Mart?

(theme blue-> KILL blue,
... green..,
grayscale...)

uhm i don't know...
Maybe it's true that there is a little "incongruence" between the xkill, hand and the others, but i fear it will become some way "monotone".
If we look at the crystal icon theme evolution it started with an heavy blue dominance, and with the time it has become more various.
Does anybody have an opinion about it?

Thanks for your response!!!
