Description:

X11 mouse theme with the crystal look&feel,there are four versions in the package.

Changelog:

CrystalCursors 1.1.1:
-this release only fixes some hot spot-related bugs into the left-handed version.
Many thanks to Markus Bauer and Bastian Venthur for the report and patch.

CrystalCursors 1.1:
this release fixes only the build system, changes includes:
-in left handed themes the symmetric cursors aren't flipped anymore
-now it's finally possible to install the cursors system-wide:
all you have to do is to edit the Makefile and change the first line
export PREFIX=$(HOME)/.icons/ with a properdirectory, usually
export PREFIX=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons is a good choice,
that should also make simpler to build rpms and other packages

CrystalCursors 1.0:
-corrected the green version of copy cursor
-now the colorize.sh script produces a veery better result
(and is fairly slower, btw :-))

CrystalCursors 0.9:
-corrected a little asymmetry in the left pointers
-all themes have an almost autogenerated left-handed (i.e. flipped) version

CrystalCursors 0.8:
-modified the shiny effect of the hands
-all borders of the 32x32 versionnow are more sharp
-remade all the shadows of the white version
CrystalCursors 0.7:
-a 32x32 version of wach cursor theme(useful for very big screen
resolutions) to enable it set the environment variable XCURSOR_SIZE=32
-watch busy cursor updated with the one in the current crystal icons
-green theme reworked
-lighter shadows
-reworked all the svg images
-little modification in colorize.sh(thanks to Tika)

After those moments of praise and joy, here's a bit critical post, sorry :)

I really like the idea of having a Crystal cursor set, but these images are a bit fuzzy, do not have correct shades and they don't really give me that nice Crystal feeling (especially that hand cursor).

I think they could be much better when recreating them using a vector drawing app (please correct me if I'm wrong, but to me, it looks like you've used a normal image editor (like GIMP)).

Also, cut != move ;)

Keep up the good work though, the idea is great and I'm looking forward to future improvements of this theme :)

some of these cursors were made with sodipodi(there are some svg in source directory), but i didn't like how sodipodi exported them, so i edited the image with the gimp to give them a sharper look.

i would know how the new cristalsvg icons(like the new folder icon) were exported to png, that effect is very good.

You don't know how long I've waited for such a theme. This is about how I'd expect it to be for Crystal.

 Great 1st release

I really like this cursor set. I'm using it in fact.

The ONLY problem I can see is that if you start a GUI program as root and you move the pointer over that app or use it's popdown menus then it reverts back to the plain old black X cursor.

I installed the theme into root's home directory and the cursor doesn't revert to the default X version. I don't know if this is normal but I never noticed it before with some of the other themes.

But other then that..great job. :)

Cursors are really wonderfull
but I like grayscale themes...

And I wrote a litte script which do from this crystal xcursors grayscale cursors (ImageMagick need):

$ tar -zxf crystalcursors.tar.gz
$ cd Crystalcursors
$ cp -r sources gray_sources
$ for a in `find sources -name *.png`; do convert -colorspace GRAY $a gray_$a ; done

and at gray_sources we have grayscale xcursor theme =)

 How to choose?

Where can I choose the new cursors after installing? I can only see them as root. Unfortunately I don't know what I have to change to use the cursors as user.

Make sure you follow the README instructions. All you have to do is type "make install" or, "make" then "make install", whatever you prefer. Don't do a SU before "make".

Great idea ;-) But it works now. At first I installed it as root.
