OSX-Tiger theme

GTK 2.x Theme/Style

Score 72%
OSX-Tiger theme

Downloads:  202042
Submitted:  Apr 18 2007

Description:

This is my very first GTK-theme. It tries to imitate OSX Tiger operating system's Aqua theme. There are some differences, because GTK sets some limits what you can do and what not.

Theme uses some graphics from Glossy P theme.

This theme uses pixbuf engine so in Ubuntu you'll need to install gtk2-engines-pixbuf package.

I have written more about OSX imitating on my website www.taimila.com.

 botched install...

Hi,
I'm new to linux and using Ubuntu 6.06. Tried to install this theme by installing GTK2. Now my desktop is kind of screwed up like only 2 workspaces, missing add/remove programs, and other problems. How can I restore my system to original gnome and re-install this theme?

I tried "rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity" but doesn't fix it.

Please help.

Thanks!

Oh, you didn't really have to install GTK2.What you need is already installed. Since your installation is messed up you should just re-install it. There's also a new version of Ubuntu: 7.04, it's better. I'm using it now.
One thing i've noticed w/ linux is it's pretty easy to mess up your system with bad installations, (especially with newbs) so back up often.

 This theme crash my

When I used the evolution-alarm-notify, it will pop-up a small banner in the bottom right of the monitor besides a big dialog in the center of the screen. This things went fine with other theme. But whenever I put on this theme, my gnome will crash as soon as the pop up is shown and I am kicked out into an GDM screen, all unsaved data in opened app is lost, this is a kind of very serious problem, do you have any idea?

Ok, this sound very bad. I don't use Evolution myself, so that's why I haven't noticed this kind of behavior. Can you say what kind of widgets is used in this element that crashes the system? I mean, is there buttons, tabs, comboboxes, etc? This would help me to find the problem.

It 's kind of weird but that banner don't contain any widgets inside.
I have a screenshot here : http://www.imagehosting.com/show.php/511131_crash.png.html
As you can see, in the bottom right corner is a small banner. Gnome as well as XFCe crash as soon as this banner show up when using this theme.
I am using Fedora Core 5 and evolution 2.6.0

I hope you can fix this problem, then this theme could be the best mac alike theme around

The first guide is pretty understandeble, but not that great for a noobie like me :( . At the second guide i really get confused at how changed everything. a step by step guide for noobies like me would be really help full ;D.

but still gonna try it out....and if i cant get it to work, then f*ck it ;)

I understand it can be bit confusing, but if I would go in details the article would be away too long and it's very boring to write such a detailed text. But I hope you manage to achieve what you want.

Sorry, but no. I have collected icons all over the internet and I don't have permission (copyrights) to publish them.

I'm not sure why but I've been trying to find and install a Mac theme on Ubuntu 7.04 (laptop; HP Pavillion dv6119us), and whenever I install a Mac theme, it just uses the Clearlooks window border. Any advice? By the way, I couldn't get the NVIDIA drivers working if that matters.

You need to install pixbuf GTK-engine. In ubunu you can do this by giving a following command in terminal:

sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf

I have the same problem - no osx'like toolbars.
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf

says that I have installed current version of it.

In System -> Preferences -> Themes (sorry but I do not know if this is the same in english ver - I use polish), pressing button "My themes" , there are 4 tabs:
1. Elements (? - nevermind)
2. Colors
3. Toolbars
4. Icons

In 1'st and 4'th I have osx-mod (I installed icon pack with thayt name), but I cannot see something like that name in the 3'rd tab, WHY ?

How can I add/edit something at that place manually ?

Thank you for everything else, your job is wonderful.
