Description:

GTK2 theme based on VistaBut theme from roberTO21 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=32227).
All the thanks go to roberTO21

The best metacity themes that match this gtk theme are LiNsta Black Flat, LiNsta Black Plastic, LiNsta Black Plastic & Alu, and LiNsta Silver Plastic.

I changed small things in its theme :
-the theme is clearer;
-some pixmaps were improved;
-I changed the top panel style. Now, you can find 2 themes : black and gray. I'm working on a Royal Blue one.
-I changed the menubar style. Now you can find more than 20 themes. You can make yours :-) Don't hesitate to share them !
-I changed the toolbar style. There are other styles. Choose yours.

How to customize ?
-All the styles are defined in 4 files : menubar-custom.rc, toolbar-custom.rc, panel_custom.rc, and menu-custom.rc. Have a look to them.
-To change the top panel theme : comment and/or uncomment the lines 18, 19 in the gtkrc file. panel_silver.rc and panel_black-plastic.rc contain the suitable styles to modify to obtain the desired panel. To have the best result, go to the panel properties, in the background tab, and select the right background (go to the panel folder in the GTK2 theme folder).
-To change the menubars, go at the end of the gtkrc file. Change the lines 1822, 1823, 1824 with one of the styles defined in the menubar-custom.rc file. You can define one style for particular windows (see lines 1825, 1826, and 1827), but don't forget that the more there are definitions like these, the more the GUI is slow !
-To change toolbars, change the lines 1815 to 1820 with one of the styles defined in the toolbar-custom.rc file.
-For the meuns style, all styles are defined in the menu-custom.rc file. The silver menu is ok.

But I would like to define a black menu, and the menuitem font color is still black, and I would like this to be white. I tested lots of things but the menuitems are always black. Can you help me ?

I also need your help to define a particular menu style for the panel (black menus), and another for all other windows and apps (silver menus). How can I do this ?

Great theme ;) But...

Bug: In the Firefox and Thunderbird menubar-text is black. So text is invisible on this background ;)

Hummm ... It's trange because I don't have this bug. What version of Firefox and Thunderbird are you using ?
Mine is 1.5.0.2 for Firefox, and I don't use Thunderbird. And all is fine.
I don't know what to say :-(

Oh, yes. I didn't understand it was about the text ... Sorry ...

Yes, I have the same bug. For now, I did not seek yet to solve it.

Does somebody have the solution?

You can't fix it in the GTK theme, but you can add the following to your Firefox userChrome.css file to fix it:

menubar > menu {
color: white !important;
}

menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"] {
color: white !important;
}

menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"][open="true"] {
color: black !important;
}

I'm using "S2 High End". You can find it on deviantART.
I think it is one of the best themes I used.
Almond's theme is also fine.

deviantART is very cool for good ideas.

first of all good job. I am using this theme. but I was wondering, where in the config files can I edit the window title to appear in the center?
Also, is the icon theme really nuoveXT-1.6? it looks very different from my version.....

If you want the window title to appear in the center, you have to go in the metacity theme you are using (in the considered folder under your .themes dir) and edit the metacity-theme-1.xml file.

The lines 49 to 92 define how the title bar will appear when the window is focused or unfocused. You have to rewrite the good position for the title and the icon.

To have the good position, you can go to see which formula to use in another theme where the title is centered and apply it.

For the icon theme, yes, I'm really using nuoveXT-1.6 with some new icons for certain apps I found over the net

 Minor bug (and fix)

 by DarkWicked on: Aug 10 2006

There's a minor bug in the notification area.

The background is 1px lower than on the rest of the panel.

You can fix that by applying the same style as the panel and using a copy of the panel background to which you've removed the first top pixel.

Anyway, congratulations for this theme, it's the first theme I see that can show the proper background image for the icons in the notification area.
