 Timeline wrong

Mandrake was based on Red Hat. It started life as Red Hat + KDE, since at the time Red Hat did not come with KDE.

Suse was originally based on Slackware.

Corel Linux started life as Caldera OpenLinux and was out in 1994. Corel only bought it and changed its name. Caldera (the company) is now known as The SCO Group beginning in 2002, and Caldera OpenLinux is now known as Xandros, as you have noted.

Also, in 2002 Caldera, Suse, TurboLinux, and Connectiva formed United Linux where each contributed something to make one distro that was compatible between the companies. It was short lived, however, and broke up in 2004.

 Not a bad start

I like where this idea came from, but you are missing a good deal of distros. Check out DistroWatch.org for more info about some of them, like RR4/RR64 which is a gentoo derivative far more popular than kororaa which made your list.

I like the tracking idea in general, and your branching idea is kind of nice visually for helping make them distinct and easy to read.

 Kanotix?

I *really* like the idea!! But you should really check out distrowatch for more.
My favourite distribution - KANOTIX - has rank 15... It was split of Knoppix at the end of 2003 (KANOTIX-X-MAS-2003-PREVIEW).
Above all could you write the comments on the table in English, please?!

thanks
danone

zenwalk, the latest and greatest slackware derivative should be at the end of that line...

and yes, distrowatch is a great place for information for your project here.

I believe LindowsOS/Linspire was based out of Debian... they state it somewhere on their site, too.
