Description:

"Candido" is an Italian word that means "candid", smooth things and feelings...
This theme is provided with this good feeling. :)

"Candido" is based on "Gray" theme by me and then Mint.
For the rest... There's two version of "Candido", (the Light one is a little bit bright, from #e7e7e7 to #eaeaea for the background, and it has different tabs).

I'm planning new colored versions and a package with a few modified window borders.
Please ask me before make any *color* mods, because I'm planning to do new colored versions in the future!
Please comment is you have found any bug or if you request some new features!

Suggestions are always welcome!

Very good work! Thank you for sharing!

This version seems "faster" than grey.

I really like the panel better.

Please continue sharing your work.

"which is also a modification of "Mint" by lokheed, but this one is no more modificable due to its new copyrights law"

Sorry, I dont get this. Are you CC'ing your theme? Cause it's released under GPL.

If you do CC it, you better remove my arrows, my frames, my handles, my list-headers, and my sliders, cause sadly those are under my Creative Commons licence. Or you can change them. In fact, would you please remove or change them, as do are in violation of my CC licence.

Cheers.

I totally agree here with Lookhead...
what you're doing is against GPL...

On a side-note, "which is also a modification of "Mint" by lokheed"

--> which is by itself a modification of the theme "VistaBut" by roberTO21, he deserves credit too I suppose...

Mint 2.0 was released under GPL, now it has a new license so mines is just a "fork" from the GPL ones.

If lokheed will release new version 2.1 I can't modify it, but the 2.0 that I have modified was released under GPL (I have taken the fork since gray).

I can remove the mention through which Candido came from, but mentioning Mint I think that I have done what I was obliged to do (and that what I like to do because of is great work) about license. Isn't it?

Thats not accurate. The GPL licence is only in reference to the actual theme structure which, as mentioned previously, is based off vistabut. I make no claim to the pixmap engine and have put no restraints on its licence. My CC is applied to the images. Any graphical image within the theme is under my licence and its reproduction is prohibited without my express written permission. If you refer to the the only known existing release of Mint (lokheed.deviantart.com), you will notice that it is under copyright (located in every deviantart submission at the top left.

I can see why you were confused about the GPL licence, but as per the clarification now made, there is nothing contrary to my claim that any image is bound to a GPL licence.

In fact, all images are held within my copyrights which you are in violation. The pixmap engine itself is free to use, I make to claim against that. But again, all images created by me, are held under my CC licence.

If you can show me any evidence that I have specifically attached the GPL licence to my images, then I will take them under consideration, but I feel that I have been more than consistent.

This is not a personal issue. I am merely looking out to protect my intellectual property. I appreciate the fact you like my work. There is nothing that stops you from making such themes and enjoying them yourself, but you cannot freely release them for others to copy as well. This has caused my work to spiral out of control and become parts of many other peoples themes. This is my major concern here.

All right... A lot of pixmaps has been completely rewrite, except for the arrows and shadows (or shadows came from vistabut?). It took me 2 days... :)

Can I have the permission from you to use _your_ arrows adding credit in the description?

Thank you.

Bye

Lokheed,

You say Creative Commons license?

which?

Attribution?
Noncommercial?
No Derivative Works?
Share Alike?

I mean I like some of your work dude and sometimes follow it, but the fact is that most of the human population could give a shit less about your down arrows, etc. You say on Deviant that no one likes you...I wonder why? He did not alter your precious down arrows etc., he simply used them. In fact you use peoples work all the time...and modify there work...so what? These gnome themes are used for a small minority of people who want a better gnome desktop. It appears to me that your just being an ass about it and you could have simply emailed him instead of trying to make him out to be the ass.

All he should have to do is license the theme GPL and the precious graphics CC.

Now would this make everyone sleep better at night?

For some reason this just pisses me off.

No it is released under GPL like Gray that was a color modification of Mint 2.0 which was released in GPL.

I have seen that you have changed the license of Mint, so I've said to the others not to modify it because it has a new license (You can modify the license because you're the owner, but I have to mantain GPL since it depends to Gray).

I was right??

I have sent an email few days ago about this copyright but I haven't received any answer.

I'd like to talk with you because I think you have got the reason to be angry with people that don't give the right credits and I want to talk with you to resolve the mistake...

Bye and thanks for all!!!

It's a movie-still of the actor "Vin Diesel", from a scene in the movie "Pitch Black"(2000).

I find it a bit farcical that someone would take the licence of a theme on this site, as seriously as to go about quoting paragraphs... Why not just sue him?
The last year or so, there's been very little innovative artwork on here (in my personal opinion, at least), and about 50% of the material here, is spin-off material anyway. I find it somewhat pointless to licence something as utterly worthless (financially) as a GTK2 theme to begin with, since it rarely to never changes the amount of spin-off work, as demonstrated here. I fail to see the point of preventing others improving your work in a place like this. From where I'm standing, I think the entire discussion is idiotic, since neither party is gaining or losing profit on either theme, and the original author is receiving credit.  Give lokheed a break

Let us all give lokheed a bit of a break. He has put up a lot of great work for the gnome desktop and everyone is benfiting. All that I am asking is that we give him the benefit of the doubt and stay calm and cool and not inflammatory. cimi86 is cooperating nicely and trying to talk it out calmly with lokheed, so lets not all jump in too quick. I am sure that lokheed will also be reasonable.

Thank you. Nice to see someone rational and acting maturally. I will omit any negative post above from enter into this conversation (beyond this sentence).

My main concern is not about money. My main concern is protecting my digital rights. Money is not the only motive in this world (and I wish people would look pasy monetary gain or value, we are dealing with something more intrinsic here) and doesn't move me. My main concern is about losing my digital property.

If a person cannot understand what it means to paint the Mona Lisa only to have 3 other people paint her as well but with blond hair or a purple dress, then I cannot further exemplify my stance beyond what I have already said.

I will talk with cimi86 as he has been more professional and respectful in meeting my demands.

I again thank you for being understanding (ashame there aren't more people like you in this world) as art means a great deal to me; it is a part of myself and that is why I am motivated to take the actions I am taking.

Much respect and signing off,

Lokheed

I don't agree, if you don't want to allow Cimi to use 2 simple arrows it's not about "concern to protect you digital rights" because exactly same arrows are in the web and are not under copyright.
If you don't have an open mind come back to windows, it's your world.
Of course it's my opinion.

Sorry for my English.
