Description:

Fast brushed Clearlooks theme made to loosely resemble OSX Tiger

Contains two variations: classic (fast) and aquastyle with blue decorations and aqualike scrolbars (not so fast), and two subvariations of each: normal and bright for different monitors.

Also it contains different metacity themes: T-ish-Brushed-Glass (now default) and T-ish-Brushed (classical flat). If you are using compizinstall T-ish-Metal compiz theme (link below).

Choose your desired combination through theme details dialog.

DOES NOT WORK WITH CLEARLOOKS-CAIRO !!

Based on Clerlooks engine, Ish GTK theme with additional buttons from Expose and GlossyP metacity borders.

Requires clearlooks engine.

IMPORTANT: In order to install all of the themes you'll have to manually extract to ~/.themes dir.

For best results use OSX icons, jaguax mouse theme, and Brushed firefox skin (links below).

To-do list:
- transparent panels

Hi,

Thanks for the fix.

I have a new idea. I found an old theme, called: BrushedChrome:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=21916

This theme has a lot of problems, but the brushed background was very cool and fresh!!!

So I just put the background in your theme. Have a look:
http://www.finck-online.de/david/brushed-chrome-shoot.jpg

I think it looks very well!!! For the first relase ;-) I have no idea how to greate a theme. But perhaps you are interested in?

The source of BrushedChrome is no longer achievable. I puplished it again on my server:

To be honest, it's little bit too much for me. And it'll be a little on the heavyweight side.

But hey, it does not cost me anything except little time to create a new variation of theme and package it.:))
So watch this space, I'll publish it soon.

Thanks.

Well, unfortunately usage of gradient brush give us too unconsistent look.

I just cannot make it to look good enough for publishing.I have tried different approaches and it's always all over the place.

Sorry.

Probably clearlooks engine and bitmaped background does this.

Can you try T-ish theme (not brushed version) and tell me if there is any speed-up.

Thanks,

 nice theme, but

Hi!

I had a look at the theme, since I am interested in a fast brushed theme. And this one works fast. But I would like to have the panels of gnome on the bottom and top of the desktop not brushed and more blue in it. And the metacity more blue like glossy p. I like these blue scroll thing very much. But glossy needs more contrast. There is RPanther but I found it slow and unstable. So would you like to do a version with more blue in it and a bit lessed brush. Anyway, nice work. ;-)

Thank you.

I have both things you mentioned (panel and scrollbars) on my to-do list :)).

However, to make those things work I will have to use more then one gtk engine and that will cost us speed which I'm not currently willing to sacrifice. I have tested pixmap engine and was not satisfied with results.

So, I have chosen to wait until the next version of clearlooks engine made into ubuntu and then to decide how to solve this things.

About more blue: If I catch some time I will publish a version with blue decorations instead of cureent grey ones.

Scrollbars, when I include them will be something like the ones in MacOS-X theme.

And finally, lesser brush is aready available in bright and shaded-bright versions of this theme. You'll have to unzip the file instead of installing it through gnome-theme-manager.

Regards,

Toni

I use KDE as my desktop and KDE has had a "bahira" for a while. However, as anyone else, you can't live without the great GTK/Gnome applications, among others, gAim, rox, OpenOffice, etc etc.
And I hated the fact that I couldn't have a seamless look among both worlds.
Now I can :D Thanks to you!
It is an awesome theme! Only discrepancy now is the scrollbars (which bahira makes then aqua pill-like).
Now, those icons..! where you got them from?
I just love them. I want more!! specially the ones for toolbars and stuff like that.

Thanks!
Nelson

Eh-heh thank you for such a praise :)

About scrollbars: I originaly wanted to make them aqualike but as it turned out it is only possible if I call another gtk engine (pixmap) from theme and I'm not sure I want to do that. I'll wait for new version of clearlooks engine to be released in ubuntu and then will see how or what to do.

About icons: I collected them along the way while trying many available themes:)) See, I'm not a "pixelpusher":)) I barely know how to use gimp :), but I imagine myself to have some understanding of GUI functionality. Every bitmap comes from some of the other themes that I considered had great potential but were not functioning as a whole.

So, I basicaly took the elements from a few other themes (namely some panther-likes, Glossy P,ish and clearlooks) mixed them all together and then removed 85% of everything, and as a final touch I added the brushes.:))

Thank you.
