Description:

Five GTK and Metacity themes to use with Equinox GTK engine 1.40 and Faenza icon theme.

To enable breadcrumbs in Nautilus Elementary, uncomment the following line at the end of each gtkrc file :

#include \"apps/nautilus-elementary.rc\"

To enable support of global menu, uncomment the following line at the end of each gtkrc file:

#include "apps/globalmenu.rc"

To use global menu with Equinox Evolution Midnight, you have to switch your metacity theme to the Equinox Evolution Dawn one from gnome-appearance-properties.

Known issues

Equinox Evolution
By default, the menu of Network Manager Applet does not appear in dark.
You can enforce this behaviour from the gnome-session-properties application. Locate the item corresponding to the Network Manager and change its command line from :
nm-applet --sm-disable

To:
bash -c \'GTK2_RC_FILEs=/usr/share/themes/Equinox\\ Evolution/gtk-2.0/apps/nm-applet.gtkrc nm-applet --sm-disable\'

Of course, you may change the path above if the Equinox Evolution theme is installed into your personnal folder (~/.themes).

Equinox Evolution Midnight
Gnome does not support well dark themes, so you may experiment:
* Some ugly controls in HTML forms with Firefox (but you can use Chrome/Chromium insteed)
* A dark background in all you OpenOffice/LibreOffice documents (but you can force the default background color of windows and documents in the application\'s options).
* Evolution appears particulary ugly: there is a hard-coded color value for the header of the left sidebar, treeview/list headers are displayed in dark, etc.
* Probably many other...

Changelog:

1.50
* New engine option resizegripstyle
* Support of global menu (must be manually enabled, see README file)
* Better support of Ubuntu One Client and Software Center
* Some fixes for Metacity themes in Ubuntu 11.04

 Very nice!

I noticed that the Equinox themes/engine were absent from Natty, but I never expected them to come back AND be so refined. The Dawn theme was exactly what I was looking for and looks great in Unity, and the addition of breadcrumbs is very welcome. I do notice that the color of the Metacity window boarder doesn't quite blend in with the part underneath it in Dawn. This appears to be the fault of the missing menu bar because in apps that still have the menu bar the blend is seamless. Anyway, nice themes, thanks!

As for doing good; that is one of the professions which is full. Moreover I have tried it fairly and, strange as it may seem, am satisfied that it does not agree with my constitution.

 Gnome 3

It's may be too early to ask, but do you have any plans on porting Equinox themes to gnome 3?

It's may be too early too answer but, honestly, developing an engine is a huge work that is not very rewarding (I talk about instant and personal gratification). So, today, I have no plan to port Equinox on Gnome 3 but I'm not very delighted to do it especially if GTK3 requires a complete rewrite.

 Emerald port of this theme

Hi tiheum, i really like your theme and icons, especially the Equinox Evolution Dusk theme !

I use emerald for eye candy, not metacity. As i really appreciate your theme, i made a port of it for emerald.

Can i propose this emerald port in gnome-look?

No response of tiheum, so i decide to propose the port here :

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=140942

Tiheum if you don't agree with that, please message me and I remove the port.

You do a great job with faenza icons and themes, i really like it :-)

Bye

No problem but I'd rather you mention that your theme is not an official one. I plan to make some emerald port for all the five Equinox Evolution themes and they will be significantly different from yours.

I'm fine with that and change the description on the port by adding "unofficial" !

I'm waiting your official theme :-)

Bye!

 Evolution Dawn and toolbar

Hi! I'm using your equinox evolution dawn, but I prefer use light toolbar (like other part of window). How can I modify this in gtkrc theme config? Thanks :D

I think that replacing all the references to theme-toolbar-dark by theme-toolbar and theme-toolbar-button-dark by theme-toolbar-button in the gtkrc file would be sufficient. And also comment the following line (#487) :
widget_class "*<GtkToolbar>*<GtkLabel>*"    style "theme-dark"
