Description:

Read the included INSTALL file for installation instructions.

This theme is designed to be used with a transparent panel.
- Right-click on your panel, select Properties.
- Set the height to 32px and the position to bottom. Click the Background tab and select a custom image. In this case it is the included panelbg-normal.png file you need.

You can then right-click on your panel to add and remove applets. For exmaple: I am using a single menu button, window list, indicator applet and a clock.

Note that moving around the applets on your panel can be hard as I've removed the graphics for a cleaner look. It may require a couple of right-clicks before you hit the invisible applet handler.

If you prefer to use metacity themes I can recommend my Zuki metacity theme that will look nice with this theme:

Font: Trebuchet MS
Icons: Faenza

Changelog:

0.2
- Minor fixes.
- Removed nautilus-e.rc because I can't test it.
- Added an installation script that will install and apply the GTK theme. (Not the panel or window decoration theme.)

Simple. I like it. Very good job.

You use the single menu button. Could you tell me how to remove the little arrow, or tick mark, that is on the button. I don't see one on yours in the screenshot.

Thanks. :)

It should be removed if you apply the included GTK theme.

If you're using another theme then check the panel.rc file.
Get the style "panel-arrow-remove" part and the included images and copy it to the theme you're using.

Hi!
Thanks for sharing this, but [as on every cool theme] someone has to complain that he doesn't know how to use the theme - well, I`m that person here.

Done the transparent panel, but I don't know how to "apply the included GTK theme." [I guess there is the 'thing' that makes the active window transparent + the arrow gone].

So if you have time, please explain the steps in a few words as for a new linux member :)

From the included HOW_TO_INSTALL file: ;)

Unzip the Simpleton folder to 1 of the following locations:
/usr/share/themes
/home/your username/.themes

Go to System -> Preferences -> Appearance and click on the Customize button.
Select the theme(s) from the lists there.

Thanks for your reply.
I've read HOW_TO_INSTALL before I posted the first time :). I've got the folder in both locations:
/usr/share/themes
/home/your username/.themes

but Simpleton doesn't show up in Appearance->Customize.

Folder structure should be like this:

/usr/share/themes/Simpleton/gtk-2.0

In the gtk-2.0 folder there should be a gtkrc file plus 2 other folders.

Then look at this image to see if you did it wrong or right: ;)
http://data.fuskbugg.se/skalman02/4d8f67437fd9e_show.jpg

And for the window decoration:

## INSTALLING THE EMERALD THEME(S) ##

Make sure you're running emerald first.
Press ALT+F2 and type:
emerald --replace

Go to System -> Preferences -> Emerald theme manager.
Click on the import button to import the *.emerald file(s).
Select the theme from the list.

(BTW, make sure you have compiz and emerald installed first.) :)

Thank you!

I messed up here:
/usr/share/themes/Simpleton/gtk-2.0

I had the whole archive over there:
/usr/share/themes/Simpleton/Simpleton/gtk-2.0

Now it works :)
Keep up the good work!

This is a really nice theme, but I have 2 problems with it, first off I don't have the file panelbg-normal.png. And how do I change the button for the drop down panel?

The panelbg file is in the "Panel graphics" folder in the archive.

To change the menu icon you can open gconf-editor and go to:
/apps/panel/objects/
Find the entry that handles the menu. Click "Use custom icon" and in another part of the same entry you need to enter the path to the custom icon.

look like your awesome theme is not fully compatible with xfce 4.8 (xubuntu 11.04). Do you know how to fix the background of the indicator applet on the panel ? (see screenshot for details)
