I don't like. Because it is not configurable (how to set size and icon spacing)?

Not only the icons and spacing are enormous, the bottom portion is wasted displaying irrelevant info (the Apps to Download).

I don't understand the mind of the designer of this interface. Instead of displaying better what I have in my computer, 30% of the menu space is used to dosplayed what I don't have in the computer. I bet you in the next version the screen will be filled with things like "books you don't read yet" or "people you don't know" or "here are a few things you don't need"

1)I'm sure the configuration options will come in time, development will continue.

2)Unity does the exact opposite of wasting space - it maximizes screen space. The icons may be big but they autohide when you need them to.

Workflow is much better for me with unity than it was with the classic desktop. The only thing I miss is Emerald.

I tried it. I gave it an honest shot. I couldn't stand it no matter how hard I tried.

It felt like a giant phone and I have never been able to stand global menus.

Not for me I guess. Maybe for someone else.

I see Ubuntu going down a destructive path. They are trying to stay at #1 so they designed Unity which is horrible and I can only see appealing to tablet users.

They need to go back to their roots and keep creating high-quality releases with fresh artwork, themes, and bullet-proof design.

After using both Gnome Shell and Unity I would have to vote for Gnome Shell over Unity (although I dislike both). I wish they had just used something like Cairo-Dock for the quick launcher and maybe Enlightenment as the window manager.

for my taste and my practicality is just an unnecessary interface does not provide anything useful or anything really practical if you ask me to define unity in one word I would say: "UNNECESSARY"

Now, let me get this straight. Zeitgeist tracks your computer activity. Unity exposes this track record. Just in terms of physical access, this means that any casual user can quickly review your computer activity track record. The potential for mischief is mind boggling. Who would want this?
