why?? I have tested this Unity-Desktop here on my Notebook (CR500series from MSI) but Unity is currently by far too buggy and unstable to use it!! And even the look is awful!! This is not my style of Desktop. Really not. Unity often freezes the desktop and sometimes Unity also crahses. This is no way of working for all-day use! NO, not this way! That's one reason more, why I have siwtched to LinuxMint since one year now.

I will wait until the proper version fo Gnome-Shell with Compiz included one day. And I am also happy, that the Mint-developers do not force the users to use Unity in the next version of their distro. They made a poll that clearly showed, that many users are not willing to be forced in this way. So the developers decided to use the Gnome 3-desktop but with its original look as we already nknow it from the current version. They want to leave decision open to the users, what they want to do. They give the option to install Gnome-Shell after the basic installation or even Unity. That's a very good decision in this way and this is real democracy.

Unity must be developed on and must be made more stable for real all-day use. But until this time, I will stay with Gnome 3 and Compiz together with Emerald!

 Love the minimalism

I have set the launcher to autohide and now have an awesome black and white minimalist theme going on, my desktop has never looked and felt better.
So there's no emerald or 3d desktop (yet) but seriously the novelty of desktop cube wore of for me after a week.

I'm running Natty with Unity on my Notebook and on my Desktop (w/ 24 inch wide display). So far I don't have any complaints. I like the fresh look of the desktop now and after a little tweaking Unity does work fine on the big screen also.

People need to be more open and less negative around here.

It's hard to NOT be critical when you can't use the interface because they left out the accessibility features.

That's inexcusable.

Wouldn't it be nice if Cannonicle spent more time on hardware support and bug solving than on yet another user interface.

I am not a complete idiot, some parts of me are missing.

Unity is an awesome step forward for Canonical and the direction they want to take Ubuntu. I welcome the change and think it is great. There are really only a few small features I think are missing, but this is the first step, future releases will just get better and better. For all you people who hate it so much and feel Canonical has betrayed you, just keep your receipt and ask for your money back.

If you are enjoying the freedom of Linux, let other enjoy it without sarcasm. Ubuntu should hard test their packages before putting them out. We don't want Linux to become a laughing stock.
"just keep your receipt and ask for your money back" I don't use Ubuntu but you are out of line.

I did use Ubuntu. Now I use Debian and KDE. Thanx gnome and canonical to make me change to a real GNU/Linux distribution with real free softwares and respect for users!

I was actually replying to Dawei87 but hey nothing better than Debian when if comes to the true spirit of free software. I only use Debian over here.
