 GTK theme is not ok

 by nekron29 on: Oct 11 2010

Hi There,

Congrats on the effort; still one big problem from my point of view - the GTK theme is far from ready; lots of visual glitches and issues and is not feeling quite right..Especially the bottom of the menus in the windows, with those 2 weired squares...

I think one of the best gtk theme, emulating osx is still Aurora Leopard BSM; it would be great if someone would take it into the new Equinox engine (i don;t like the huge arrows in the menus from Aurora), it would be for sure a hit.

Anyway this is my point of view..

Rgds.

 Great... but..

Hey it is awesome!!!
anyway there is a very big problem for me..
I need to use 2 different monitors in "separate mode" so as far as I know I load 2 windows session through the same logon..

Now I can't do it anymore.. the second screen remains with background picture without loading session (so I can move mouse over it but I don't have panel or nautilus support).

How can I fix?

It looks bad. Strange, the script changes only Compiz profile, does not changes any hardware settings.

Please try to reset Compiz settings to default profile, open CompizConfig Settings Manager, go to Preferences and reset profile to default values by pressing "Reset to default".

Terminal way:
nohup metacity --replace > /dev/null &
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz
nohup compiz --replace >/dev/null &

Here is my Compiz profile, works with two screens in TwinView & Separate X mode on NVidia GeForce:
http://www.losoft.org/blog/download/macbuntu/compiz-profile.tar.gz

Same profile works without problems on ATI with TwinView support (Separate X not tested).

well tnx for the answer, anyway I get it sorted by deactivating cube and rotation settings in compiz..

while I still can't see magic lamp effect while min/maximize windows.

Any idea?

I will try to check you configuration, may it can help me!

Thanks

 Great work.

I really enjoy this. It's been a looong time since I used a mac (my broken - rip - powerbook G4 resides on the shelve behind me) and I really like it.
Well the GTK theme is not quite to my liking, I'm using something selfmade/assembled/collected/hacked. ;)

But the icon-theme is just wonderfully complete and matching.

Just one tiny issue I might want to take a look at, and you might as well: the reload page button in firefox does not get scaled to the correct proportions (too large?).

But honestly - this is a themepack I really enjoy. Many thanks to the authors!

I got the reload icon in firefox sized properly down by simply using gimp to scale: .icons/Macbuntu-Icons/actions/scalable/view-refresh.png to 96x96. Looks aaaaal great now.

"selfmade/assembled/collected/hacked" sounds nice ;)

I will add 96x96 view-refresh.png, but I think may be something in connection with your s/a/c/h theme :)
by default, firefox gets icons from the actions/gtk folder or at least should.

Thanks for the info

Well it should probably, but it does use the view-refresh.png.

What makes firefox look even better than that scaling I did:

cd ....../Macbuntu-Icons/actions/
cp gtk/media-playlist-repeat.png scalable/view-refresh.png

I'm not quite shure if this breaks anything else, but firefox... well:

I quite like it this way.

 GTK theme

First, really good work about the pack, but i had problems in gtk theme.

1) I am using elementary mod for nautilus and the 3 buttons in right for icons, list, details are vissible really ugly and squared.

2) The slider in sound indicator is ugly too

3) In some places as vertical separator is drawn one black line.

All others seems to be very sexy.

Congratulations for the job.

I should have copy and pasted the truth.

Unfortunately, you're right :), it does not look good. I'll try to fix these flaws as soon as I can.

I do not have too much experience in creating syntactically correct gtk themes, but I promise that I will try :)

Thanks for the info

 compiz settings

 by vilius83 on: Oct 11 2010

Hello. Thank you for this beautiful Ubuntu theme! Icons, windows borders, sounds, fonts all are great. I just have some problems with changing compiz settings. All settings, animations set by you works fine, but when I want to change an animation, for example set vacum instead of fade in closing window animation it just doesn’t work, works only the animation set by installation script.

This is strange, I do not know what it is, but I will find an answer. Meanwhile, please reset Compiz settings to default then set animations manually. Sorry.
