 Mouse Pointer Issue

 by a8j8i8t8 on: Oct 14 2010

Score 42%

Hi,
Mouse pointer automatically changes to default "DMZ white" when I hover it on Oracle Virtualbox window and/or Netbeans Window.
Don't know whether it's for all "java/Sun" Windows? :)
I have installed (not upgraded) Ubuntu 10.10 and then installed Macbuntu on it.

Cheers,
Ajit

Something is wrong with the cursor. Not exactly known whether this is a problem with compiz, gtk or gnome. Here is the thread: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/459647

The solution to this problem, is associated with changing the default system cursor: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/459647/comments/8

My way (work for me):
sudo mv /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme /usr/share/icons/default/-index.theme.backup

Get it back:
sudo mv /usr/share/icons/default/-index.theme.backup /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme

I got it now.
I just needed to change "/usr/share/icons/default/index.theme" to Macbuntu-Cursors.
Now it's working. :)

 Transparency

Good job!
But I have a problem in Maverick, when I set the panel transparent, the notification area is still gray and it looks awful.

How can I fix this? maybe it's a problem in the gtk theme.

Hi

There is a problem in the gtk theme. I need to fix the whole theme, meanwhile, you can disable panel.rc in gtkrc.

1. Open theme gtkrc
gedit ~/.themes/Macbuntu/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

2. Remove or # the /include "panel.rc"/ line (line no: 20)

You can change now the background inage to transparent one, ie. "panel-bg-trans.png" included in theme Panel folder ~/.themes/Macbuntu/gtk-2.0/Panel/

 bug in 2.3

by hotice on: Oct 15 2010

There is a bug in version 2.3: you cannot use the uninstall script (tested on Ubuntu 10.04.1 - maybe the Ubuntu version is what caused this).

here is the error when running the Uninstall script:

./uninstall.sh

Macbuntu - Mac OS X Transformation Pack

Deinstallation script

Attention!
This script will slide back to default Ubuntu desktop
all Macbuntu-10.04 components will be removed permanently

Checking Ubuntu version...
Passed

Checking currently installed version of Macbuntu-10.04...
Failed. The script is not able to determine what version is currently installed
Exiting...

I was able to uninstall it but removing the Ubuntu version check in the uninstall script.

Any error during installation?

Seems that the installation did not complete correctly. At the end script saves the current version to ~/.macbuntu/current, if the file do not exists you can not uninstall. The message is displayed: "Failed. The script is not able to determine what version is currently installed..."

I assume that if the file does not exist, nothing is installed. So better to abort the whole process. Is it good? Yes.

The problem is, what happend that the file was not saved. An error or maybe the installation is aborted?

 Better file manager

by imaginois on: Oct 15 2010

I stumbled upon some primitive article about the latest macbuntu version. Though the file manager looks different. This is what I am talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTiA8GGPoxg

From what I see it's about the alpha version but still the installation instruction are no different the the one on the sourceforge page.

I don't know if this is some kind of new mod I don't know about or it's something completely different. I am not even sure if this is nautilus, but i think this path bar http://bit.ly/ayn6iq looks better than this on http://bit.ly/9lHdDn

I also found a video here http://bit.ly/9tg3xw (not sure if it's the same thing) and certainly looks better than the current.

I hope you agree and I didn't hit any nerves. Just trying to help improving the project

Please enlighten me on the subject
Cheers!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. This project is all of you and is open for any suggestions, which improves it.

You talking about Nautilus-Elementary. I agree that the standard Nautilus does not look interesting with Macbuntu.

We can vote, and if the majority votes in favor of Nautilus-Elementary, it will be included in the next version.

Same with Cairo-Dock, I get many requests to join the dock to the project instead of Docky. Also we vote and see which program you like more.

I will look for where we can prepare a poll.

You can always use the links at the top.

The poll is not working correctly, you can put only one on the page, lol. Until I will not solve this, there will be only one.
