Ohh... You didn't tell me that you have a custom theme for the firefox, remove it and everything should be alright now.

Also read the Help (run Elegant GNOME app and choose the Help entry) if you wanna fix the OpenOffice.

Not working in firefox beta 6

by Crazedpsyc on: Oct 28 2010

I downloaded Elegant-Gnome and have loved it's elegance and relaxation until I opened firefox beta 6 for the first time since installing Elegant-Gnome. All of the buttons tabs menus and dialogs are light gray and sharp-cornered like the default gnome without any themes installed. the output of opening firefox in a terminal is at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1607864
All other apps including firefox 3.6.12 are fine. I have no firefox themes installed, just a persona.

First of all, I'm not responsible for the unstable software.
But it looks like the 4th Firefox doesn't work with the userChrome.css that comes with the pack.
Try to remove the userCrome.css file from ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome and restart the Firefox.
Say if it'll help you.

I don't have one of those userChrome.css files except the example. I'll try removing that though

Ok, i've just downloaded the 4th Firefox and everything works fine, even with the userChrome.css.
So i don't know what actually caused the problems with the latest Firefox on your machine.
Here is a proof:

The main problem here is that the text and the background are white, and can only be visible on mouseover

Write a bug report to the developers, this is a Yast's problem. I'm not responsible for the apps that hardcode the color values.

 pgadminIII

Hi guys,
Excellent work, love this theme.

I've just installed pgAdmin 1.12.1 and together with Elegant Gnome it is practically unusable - preview: http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/641/pgadminelegantgnone.png

So far I've noticed that the left tree menu colour combination makes it impossible to read the tree menu items.

I really love this theme and would hate to uninstall it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sorry, but this is not in my competence.
As far as i can see on the project's web-site, this app is written with the wxWidgets toolkit, wich actually doesn't play nice with the dark themes (and actually its ability to mimicry under the GTK is very bad).

Thanks for the quick reply.

After fiddling around with pgAdmin I finally found a way to change the background colour for each registered server in the tree -extremely easy.

For others that may come across the same issue right click one of the registered servers, select 'properties' then change the colour for the 'Colour' option.

I updated to Pidgin 2.7.5 today. Since then the pidgin tray icons have reverted back to the original. Removing and installing the Pidgin theme using the GUI seems to have no effect :( Any idea what is going on?

Ok, so go to Elegant GNOME app and restore the Pidgin theme.
Then run in terminal:

sudo apt-get purge elegant-gnome
sudo apt-get install elegant-gnome

Finally go to Elegant GNOME app and install Pidgin theme.
That's it.

On the future.
It's a good idea to restore the theme for the pidgin/emesene/smplayer before upgrading them. And after upgrading install the theme again.
