IMPORTANT: DO NOT complain me about the OpenOffice, Firefox or Pidgin until you have read the Help

Finally, i'm glad to present the first stable release of this pack. A lot of job were done since the first release and I hope that you people have been enjoying this theme :)

This is a project that provides an automatic configuration of your GNOME desktop just in one click, with the backup and restoring support.
The main goal of this projects is to create the most complete dark theme for the GNOME desktop with easy installation experience.

If you give a bad vote, please spend a few minutes to say what you don't like

You must have this stuff installed on your system before you'll start:
Murrine GTK engine 0.98.0 or higher
Droid Sans Font
Nautilus Elementary (optional)

The pack contains the following stuff :
GUI utility to configure your desktop
Icon theme: Elegant-AwOken based on the AwOken icon set by alecive
GTK+ theme: Elegant GTK theme v 4.0
Cursor Theme: Neutral++ by ducakar
Wallpaper: gDIGE by Muscarr
Keyboard layout indicator flags
Firefox theme
Google Chrome theme by Jorge Carrillo
Google Chrome scrollbar extension
Google Chrome selection extension
Smplayer theme
Pidgin buddy list theme by Szabo Istvan

Ubuntu Lucid/Maverick and Linux Mint 9/10 installation instructions:
1. Install Elegant GNOME:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elegant-gnome/ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
a)sudo apt-get install elegant-gnome
or
b)sudo apt-get install elegant-gnome-mint
2. Go to "Applications -> Accessories -> Elegant GNOME"
1. Install Nautilus Elementary: (optional)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
2. Run Elegant GNOME app
3. Choose Configure Nautilus -> Nautilus Elementary

To install the pack from sources:
1. Download the archive and extract it
2. Open the terminal and cd to the extracted directory.
3. Run the command "make "(e.g. "make ubuntu").
run "make help" to see the available variants.
4. Run the command "sudo make install".
5. Go to "Applications -> Accessories -> Elegant GNOME".
6. Optional step. If you use the Nautilus Elementary:
a) Go to Applications -> Accessories -> Elegant GNOME
b) Choose "Configure Nautilus"
c) Select "Nautilus Elementary"

To remove the pack:(installed from sources)
1. Open the terminal and cd to the extracted directory.
2. Run the command "sudo make uninstall"

To install the Google Chrome theme:
1. Download and extract the "Google Chrome" archive
2. Drag and drop the .crx files into the Google Chrome window.

Just installed it from the sources. Murrine GTK Engine is up to date.

It isn't possible to restore the old theme, because of an error "Please uninstall GDM2 first"

I unistalled the whole package. Now it looks with every theme like this:

Fist of all, your Murrina engine was NOT up to date.
Second thing, there is the Ubuntu PPA, so this a secret for me, why you have installed it from sources.

Is this a joke? The application said you, that you must restore the GDM2 settings first, before restoring the other settings. So you had to click "Configure GDM2 theme -> Restore GDM2 settings" and then restore the other stuff.

If you're talking about the panel, so right click on it, Properties, choose the background tab and choose None.

Sorry, but all the problems that you had, you've done by yourself.

It actually is up to date! Of course I started installing the theme from Ubuntu PPA. Before and after I installed the package I run the following command:

sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-murrine

In both cases I got this:

The Screen shows that there is no newer version for gtk2-engines-murrine available.

Then I deleted the installer with apt-get remove elegant-gnome and compiled the installer from the sources.

I know, but the application definitely told me the same, after I executed "Configure GDM2 theme". Really, that's no joke :)

I only followed your instructions from the top of that page. I wasn't able to find any information about installing a newer version from murrine if the version from ubuntu repositories is out of date. Tell me, what am I doing wrong?

Ok, it is strange, becouse there are a lot of Ubuntu Lucid users(actually I use it on Ubuntu Lucid) and you are the first who tells me this.

The gtk2-engines-murrine, that comes with Ubuntu Lucid by default is not the latest murrine engine(and the theme don't work with it), that's why i told you, that your murrine engine is not up to date.

Ok, please lets try it one more time,
1. Add elegant gnome ppa
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elegant-gnome/ppa
2. Update your package base
sudo apt-get update
3. Install the elegant gnome
sudo apt-get install elegant-gnome

That's it. In the end, open the Synaptic, find gtk2-engines-murrine package and make sure that it got this version:
0.91.0+git20100912~ppa1~lucid1

Contrary to what I thought, needless to make a patch for eclipse use.

Just change background color and/or font like this :

Windows → Preferences → General → Editors →Text Editors → Background color.

I post this just in case.

Excellent Theme

I have been using this theme on Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit beta, with no problems. Together with the icons it makes one of the best themes I have ever seen. I decided to create a quick AWN theme, and uploaded it here, http://www.filefactory.com/file/b3b02ag/n/ElegantAWN.tgz

it uses the droid fonts, and was made in AWN on Ubuntu 10.10 from the regular repo's.

Hi, peacewithall! I've installed your AWN theme and found it very cool. However, one thing bugs me: is there any way to make the dock stand a litlle lower on the screen when using "floaty" mode? I think the settings used in the stock "Dark Theme 1.0" wich I'm currently using, would be great!

Using with Fedora 12

I installed according to the directions, and I love the theme so far. The only problem is I can't get the settings for the controls to work. The windows are light grey and the buttons are just plain light grey, but I can see in the screenshots that they should be dark grey and smooth. Is there any way I can fix this? Thank you.

The theme doesn't work because you have an old Murrine engine.
There are the packages for Fedora 13:

I don't know if they are good for Fedora 12 ( as i'm not a Fedora user), if not, so you have to build the engine manually.

Contrary to what I thought, needless to make a patch for eclipse use. Just change background color and/or font like this : Windows → Preferences → General → Editors →Text Editors → Background color. I post this just in case. Grretings from France.
