Downloads:  107910
Submitted:  May 9 2010
Updated:  Aug 5 2012

Description:

As request from XxAndoxX,
I created this from .ani and .cur base cursor.

Howto Install:
uncompress and move folder theme to /usr/share/icons/
open a terminal and insert this command line:
"sudo ln -fs /usr/share/icons/Pulse-Glass/cursor.theme /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme"
select pointer with gnome-tweak-tool
Restart, and...the Pointer Work!

I hope you like it

Changelog:

15/06/2010
Correct arrow.xmc animation
Added watch.xmc animation
16/06/2010
Change the speed of execution of left_ptr.xmc Pulse Glass, now has (almost) the same speed a heartbeat, I hope you like it.
----------------------------------------
11/06/2012
As requested, I made the pointer slightly smaller, and added compatibility with Unity + Gnome3, I hope you like it!

 Fat

This looks gorgeous, but just a little too fat.

I'd love to have it somewhat slimmer, standard cursor and hand ones especially.
Also, the text input is a little too bold on top and bottom.

I'll stay around and see if eventually my feeling is shared, and if some diet happens :)

MM you can get some spectacular cursor here
http://www.taringa.net/posts/downloads/4627431/Windows-7-Iconos_Themes_Cursores-y-mas.html
I think Charged, Defender Black and Fire Dragon are excellent option to begin with... good look and i hope we get more hits :)

Other thing that you can do, and i say you because i don't know anything about modifying, editing or transforming cursors, can be changing pulse glass' color, may be red or green, just like the protozoa cursor you have modified or making it slimmer as chareos request

 Working cursor

Sometimes, when I click a link in firefox, I see another cursor (the animated cursor from gt3 theme: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/GT3?content=106536). Is strange, in your theme I have never had seen the pointer with the red border and I don't have GT3 theme installed.

Thanks for your suggestion, I corrected arrow.xmc animation, that was not of this pointer but GT3...now everything is ok!

 Hi,

I like the cursor very much, but I cannot use it because that pulsing like it is makes me nervous.

It would be much better if the brightness would rise and slowly fall again.
Preferably slower than human heartbeat frequency.

Like this it has much more of an alarm light than a pulsing glow.

Thanks, now it's the perfect cursor for my theme.

I would have voted good anyway, but now it's "doubleplusgood" ;-)

 Good, but

I don't think I'll bear the pulse in the long term (I have a dark theme, which makes it much more visible than on a bright background). I do like the cursors very much though. Could you provide a non-pulsing version? Or share the build script / command for the source when edited? Thanks in advance for considering and my compliments for the nice theme. It's quite consistent throughout the different cursors (link, resize etc), unlike many others.

Here's how to change the waiting time animation of the pointer:

download xmc gimp plugin for load and edit the cursor with gimp
http://gimpstuff.org/content/show.php/X11+Mouse+Cursor+%28XMC%29+plug-in?content=94503

look at this picture http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/3493/editcursors.jpg
for editing with gimp, the waiting time of single frame

if you edit left_ptr save as left_ptr.xmc
delete left_ptr
rename left_ptr.xmc as left_ptr
if you have problems, I can do for you.

Thanks for the speed-tutorial; I thought I needed something to build the source to a cursor theme. Didn't know I could edit the files like that. All solved and in use!
