rm -rf ~/.themes/BSM*

 My New Theme

 by rmjohnso on: Jan 30 2011

I've been looking for a replacement for New Wave for a long time, especially since it has problems with xfce-4.8. This theme hits everything that I was looking for.

I do have one suggestion. For tabs, like in Firefox and in the xfce settings configurations, the black bar across the top of the tabs is distracting and makes the text look cramped. It might be better just to go without it.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've been working on this theme last month, and I decided remove the frame on tabs, as you said.

I'm creating the 0.9 package, wich will be avaliable in the next hours.

Thanks again for your comment.

The updated tabs look very nice.

I'm curious why you changed the spacing on the panels.

I changed the spacing panel for various reasons, but especially because the new themes for gnome are this.

So, to avoid notification-area bugs with new icons themes, and keep the updated look, I decided to change the spacing.

Makes sense. However, I run xfce, and in the panel, I have the Window Buttons plug-in running. The icons for the windows open are right next to the left side of the buttons. It looks like the pixel difference is zero.

I tried playing around with some of the values in the gtkrc file, but I'm not very familiar with writing themes, so I couldn't find the right one to adjust.

I use XFCE too. You can edit panel.rc file. There's one style, "theme-panel2", wich is used only for XFCE.

Change these lines:
xthickness = 0
ythickness = 0

For this: (older version)
xthickness = 3
ythickness = 1

But I have to warning you: many "bugs" like ugly icons, can appear, depending your panel size.

 Oddness with Evolution

First off, let me say I really like these themes; they're clean and simple and very easy on the eyes. But I do have a small issue; whenever I use BSM Simple Dark Menu or BSM Simple Dark Panel, I get black scrollbars in a black trough in Evolution. So far I haven't noticed this with any other application. Any ideas?

Yea, I have an idea, this happens because Evolution use specials GTK components (really, bugs with evolution are common).

I'll install Evolution and work on a solution for your problem. Thanks for reporting.

One thing that will help me a lot is a screenshot. Can you send me one?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the response. Here's a link to a screenshot:

http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/2514/evoproblem.png

As you can see, there are three open windows in the background: Nautilus, Evo, and Chromium. Note the difference in scrollbars. Also, I just noticed that some of the text is hard to see in Evolution and that the arrows in the sidepane are hard to see against the background.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I think I fix it. Please, try to install the new package, BSM Simple 1.0.

I would really appreciate some feedback. It's OK now?

 No widget factory image

I might have been interested in this, but I can't evaluate themes unless they include an image of the Widget Factory (or something equivalent).
