 Missing required engine

I'd like to give this theme a try, but it says that the required engine "BSM Simple Dark" is not installed. :/

This theme needs only the clearlooks engine, which came instaled by default in almost distros, like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva, Debian, Slackware, Mint, PCLinuxOS, etc...

Maybe you have an old copy. Try delete the BSM folders (rm -rf ~/.themes/BSM\ Simple*) and reinstall the newest version.

Don't make a mistake with the icons: this package provide only the GTK, Metacity and XFWM themes. To make your desktop look exactly as the screenshots, download Elementary, Faenza and Awoken Icon themes.

If nothing above works, please take a screenshot and put it at imageshack.us or imagehost.org, than I can see the error.

Thanks for reporting.

I installed this theme JUST before commenting on my problem. Unless it was updated shortly after I installed, I am using the most up-to-date version. All of my other themes work without a hitch though, and I know I have Clearlooks installed. The engine it says is missing isn't Clearlooks anyways. It's "BSM Simple Dark," which is the theme I'm trying to use. I have no idea why it does this.

I just downloaded the theme and installed it in Ubuntu Live CD. Everything ocurred as expected.

There's no "BSM Simple Dark" engine. Maybe you downloaded a corrupted package. The full package's size is 29.9 kb.

Try to download it again and remove the older folders before install the new one.

If the problem persist, please upload an screenshot.

I downloaded the file, checked the size, removed the old files, and re-installed the theme. I don't know if I read the error incorrectly or if the last file was corrupted after all, but the message changed. Rather than missing the "BSM Simple Dark" engine, it now says I'm missing the theme. Here's a screenshot:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5081788/526ebf3a55a94cdff14dcdf2f41cda61.png

One last thing. When I open the Customize dialog, BSM Simple Dark's control theme isn't listed. Only the window decoration is.

Seems like you don't have the other BSM folders, just BSM Simple Dark, but it shoudn't make any difference.

Double check if the folders exist:
-ls ~/.themes/BSM*

If the folders are OK, could be a permission problem. Try make:

-chmod 750 ~/.themes/BSM*
-chmod 750 ~/.themes/BSM*/*
-chmod 750 ~/.themes/BSM*/*/*
-chmod 750 ~/.themes/BSM*/*/*/*
(..)

Finnaly, if nothing works, try to extract the package in /usr/share/themes folder (you need to be root to do this).

I hope that works.

It was a permissions problem. I had all the themes installed to /usr/share/themes in the first place (I hate my root applications like Synaptic being blocky). Apparently I couldn't read most of the files though.

Thank you!

 One issue

Very nice theme, really loving it.

One issue though bothering me:
Options in drop-down menus in BSM Simple Dark Menu (at least) are very hard to read. Letters are too dark.

A fix for this would be great.

Thanks!

You're right, that's a bug. I've tried to fix it, but could not.

When the bug were fixed, I'll include it into a new package. If you subscribe the theme, you'll know when it happen.

You can help me reporting bugs fixes for gtkrc file. If it works, I'll put the deserved credits in the description.

Thanks for reporting.

I won't promise to you, but there's a big chance to it be included in the next release.
