 looks like old odd Vista-Basic

hi Dear,
I just installed your new Metacity-theme. You write, that there is no gtk-engine in the package, but there is one. It was installed succesfully together with the Metacity-Theme.

But let me say one thing: the Metacity-theme looks like the old odd Vista-Basic Metacity-theme. Could you make somehting similar like the Emerald-Theme as a Metacity-theme?? This would be what I am waiting for. For the moment, I would then use the Emerald-theme instead of this odd Metacity-Theme until something new will arrive.

Greetings
Karmicbastler

Metacity theme was not done by me, if you open the xml file there you'll find that it was made by someone else, maybe as soon as I learn to develop that kind of themes I'll do one by myself ;)

I guess I must not understand how you can have "no gtk engine." I you did not make the metacity theme and there is "no gtk engine" then what exactly did you make?

I did just the gtk-theme with just bitmap (consist on toolbars, menubars, buttons, scrollbars and all that) and metacity theme (not done by me) is just the Windows borders or Windows decorations, a very important part too, this work don't depend of any gtk engine like my other work which depends of libia-ora engine to show buttons, scrollbars and all that stuff properly (Mandriva's default gtk-engine)

 your Win2-7-Package

Hi jesus,
I have trouble in installing this new theme. I have followed your instructions, but the Theme-Manager can't find the Metacity-theme inside this package. Can this be beccause of a wrong packing of this Metacity-theme? I don't know, so I ask you.
Thanks for your reply.

Greetings

Umm... Vista Basic Metacity theme is on my Win2-7 Pack installed, I didn't add here because this may cause you to have a Metacity theme twice, but if you want to I can add this here

 your missing Metacity-theme

hmmm... I thought, you had added a self-made Metacity-theme. I have had to completely resetup my machine yesterday after this big crahs with Ubuntu. Yes, in one update, there was a real thick bug, what made all machines not starting anymore after installing this update. So I had to rewipe my harddrive completely and so I have mauch space free, to have your selfmade-Metacity-theme. I am looking forward to it that you add it here please!!!

Greetings

you don't need to worry. ;-) Everything runs normal again and problems are solved for me. I love Lucid still and I will not leave it. For this, I love it too much!!! Stability has become better after this crash.

OK, it took me a time, to resetup everything, but work is done and I am on styling again. I will also try to resetup my iconthemes. I love working with things like this.

Funny that we ended up with the exact same looking thing while working separately.

Recently, I found out I can skin Ubuntu to look like Windows 7 and did some work to port 7 graphics over to Ubuntu while using some skin from this site as a guide. I never meant to release my works because I am not sure on the copyright laws and I don't want to end up infringing Microsoft. Also even if was going to upload them, I would rather do it at another website where it can be better appreciated and reach wider audience, I don't particularly enjoy reading over the immature comments from the hater groups.

But, if you guys are interested, I can send over all of the artworks I've done and maybe you can reuse or or release it, although I probably don't think it is necessary anyway because I think your version is better than mine. I also have a Windows 7 button made and a better looking skin for the start menu (imo).

It's funny how we get the exact same problem with the Minimize button having a line to the left of it, I know it has to do with the "right_titlebar_edge" setting and goes away if you lower its value or turn off visual effects, but I could never figure out how to get it working correctly while being 8 pixels from the corner.

Anyway I'm glad you're onto this, so now I don't have to continue working on my version.

PS. Can anyone show me how to get the Aero transparent frame? I heard of Emerald and installed it, but I don't know how to use it.
