Description:

You can now download the official Ubuntu Sun over at its Ubuntu Artwork page (link below). I've changed the name of this theme to "Ubuntu Sun X" to avoid confusion. Not very original but it'll do.

---

There are some really nice concepts at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Lucid/UbuntuSun/ of themes that show the sun and sky at different times of the day.

This is my attempt at implementing those mockups. They're not particularly good and could have quite a few bugs and other issues.

Thanks to plippo for the original idea and mockups. And thanks to fhainsen for feedback.

Changelog:

v0.4
Name Change
Fixed panel notification icons

v0.3
Fixed borders and corners so they match
Borders now work better with dark themes
Enriched colours to more closely match the mockups
Tweaked title gradient to be less abrupt (may not have worked)
Buttons now shade on hover rather than displacement
Buttons now visible in inactive windows
Added an "Ubuntu Dark" theme on a trial basis

v0.2
Added Day and Dusk themes
Added divider between maximise and close button
Made maximised windows look better
Adjusted colours to be more acurate

Have you tried the Ubuntu Day theme? I added that after you commented.

In contrast, I really appreciate your work, well done. I think you even give me too much credit. As you created the actual theme, your name should also appear in the theme file.

I'm glad you approve.

I don't know to what extent you're still working on the mockups, but I'd really appreciate your input on the aspects that I had to decide myself; hover states of buttons, unfocused windows, ...that kind of thing.

Currently, I've just taken the simplest approach I could think of. But if you have a vision for these things, I would prefer to follow your lead.

I actually had already started to create my own metacity themes before I have seen yours. First I thought of stopping working on them and use yours as a base instead, but as I had taken a few different approaches, I continued anyway. Dawn and Dusk are almost finished now and Day will be soon. I'll hopefully be able to upload them by tomorrow (don't have that much time at the moment), so maybe we can then merge the best of both approaches.

 Karmic X and your dusk-version

Hello,

This is a very nice Metacity. Could you make one version that fits to this theme:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Karmic+X?content=112401

I think your dusk-version, a bit smaller and less of the colour-shine, would fit perfectly to karmic X. I hope you can take the time or someone else. i would do it myself but i cant make metacity-themes.

The guide to making metacity themes is here:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/tutorials/metacity/metacity-themes.html

Unfortunately, I'm busy enough as it is, but if you'd like to edit Dusk to be more to you liking; look at lines 13 to 36 to make it smaller, and line 114 to change the gradient colour. Good luck.
