Description:

A version of this Azenis Theme is now the default theme for Ultimate Edition 2.3!!

Download now contains a more compact Netbook version

::Introduction::

What is Azenis I hear you say? Azenis was originally a windowblinds theme created by J.J.Ying, now in its second carnation it has become one of their most prominent themes with almost 200,000 downloads. It has also been ported to KDE by Ezy where it has proved equally successful. I decided to have a go at creating a port for gnome, i got permission from both J.J.Ying and Ezy and this is the result.

::Development::

I have currently uploaded a standard black and blue version as well an icon theme. Various other coloured versions including red, green, purple and gold versions of theme has also been created by myself and others. whilst a whiter version is still in progress that i hope to have ready soon. Please feel free to post comments and suggestions

Thanks and i hope you enjoy my theme

::Package contains::

-Gtk and Metacity Themes
-Nautilus Background
-Default Wallpaper
-Font
-Netbook version (Metacity and gtk)

::Installation instructions::

1. Download the file and place on your desktop
2. Open a terminal and run these commands:

sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Azenis /usr/share/themes

3. Open the theme manager, you can now
select the Azenis theme,
when you click on it, it will apply the gtk and metacity themes as well as the icon and cursor themes if you have them installed. It will also give you the option of using the wallpaper provided with this theme.

Alternatively you can download the deb installer package created by TheeMahn, it is currently consistent with the 0.2.7 release of Azenis and contains Azenis, Azenis red as well as both of their matching icon themes, wallpapers, GDM, a Grub splash and the Usplash theme

::Links::

Lots of other really great Azenis Skins and themes to compliment the look created by others in the community. I strongly recommend a look =)

Hullo, downloaded your theme this morning, now trying to get it to work with Openbox. The theme itself gets applied, but still having some trouble fixing up the icons. Stuff looks awesome :D

Hiya, im glad you like the theme =) unfortunately i have absolutely no experience with openbox myself so i can't really help you, was it the actual icon theme itself that wouldn't work?

Well, as I replied in the other post, the link to the icons won't work, but I got the green theme, and just can't seem to find what I have to copy/link to enable it. I'm using the command line for everything, makes it a little harder...
To get everything, I need the main theme, the cursor theme and the icon theme, right?

Well technically you can have as many or as little of the themes that are linked from this page (i try to keep them all up to date and as complete as possible) but as far as what the theme itself will try to apply (although there again you do not necessarily need to use all of them) yes you should ideally try to have the gtk, metacity, icon and mouse themes, additionally it will keep it happy if you have the font stored in either you .fonts folder or /usr/share/fonts.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other problems as im always happy to help =)

 Path bug

 by Sevis on: Oct 18 2009

Score 50%

There's something wrong with the paths in the gtkrc file, it seems. When I try to launch firefox with the default theme (thus the system theme, thus Azenis), it gives me a long list of files it can't find. Those are, however, in ~/.themes/Azenis/gtk-2.0/. In the gtkrc file, most paths are given as absolute ones, is this intentional?

Heya,

Im sorry you've been having so many problems getting this all to work. firstly i was wondering if you were still having problems getting the Icons or if you'd managed to get your hands on them? I tried the links myself and didn't encounter any problems. If it still won't let you get at them for whatever reason i'd be happy to E-Mail them to you if you'd like.

Ok and regarding the paths problem, would you mind elaborating as to what you mean by "absolute paths", the files should just follow a /folder/file kind of pattern. Did you download from the standard (first) link or did you use the deb installer? Also I was wondering if you had experienced any problems like this with any other themes at all?

Again sorry for the problems and i hope we can get them sorted out for you,

all the best,

James

G'morning

Hm, yes, I'm still having some problems.

Absolute paths are paths relative to the root directory ( / ), and thus start with a /. For example, "/handles/handle-h.png" is the first one in the gtkrc file. "handles/handle-h.png" seems more likely, but I've got no experience, so can't be sure if it's what causes the problem or not.

I am using the first link on this page, the cursor theme, and the green icon theme, all from .tar.gz. I have put the main Azenis theme in ~/.themes/, and the icons and cursor theme in ~/.icons/. I made a symlink from ~/.icons/Azenis/ to ~/.icons/default, which enabled the cursor theme, and copied ~/.themes/Azenis/gtk-2.0/gtkrc ~/.gtkrc-2.0.

I am trying to download the normal icon theme (instead of the green one I've got at the moment, which isn't working, either) from http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Azenis+Icons+(working+title)?content=107544 , but as I said, it points to your DeviantArt page, and I don't see any further link.

I'm sorry for using the comments for bug reporting - is there a built-in service for it on GNOME-Look, or would you like me to email you further details?

Thanks again,
Sev

...Ok well first things first the download link. Once you have reached the deviantart page the download button can be found on the left hand side of the page on the left of the preview picture where there is a sort of side panel of links including my other work on deviantart, a signup button and a zoom option. There is this orangey computer like icon next to the actual download button. As for bug reporting it will depend on where you think the problem lies. In this instance id imagine it will probably be theme related rather than a porblem with your system or anything. In which case reporting your problems to myself so that i can try and fix it is the best bet. Ill message you my E-Mail address so that you can send me more details and hopefully we can get them sorted out.

All the best,

James

Dear jameshardy88:
I just have a problem in installing the blue gtk-theme. I received this error-message:

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exciting now.

Perhaps could you please fix this error?

Greetings
Karmicbastler

 Azenis-Theme

 by Karmicbastler on: Oct 21 2009

Score 50%

hi,
I like your Theme and the gtk so much (I have all three ones succesfully running, red, blue and green), that I wanted to ask if there is a possibility for an orange variation of this theme.

This would fit very good to my Halloween Desktop that I am preparing on my Desktop. Wallpapers for this I have already downloaded from the Internet. Only a nice orange Icon-theme like the Azenis-Theme is missing and the Breathe-icons or such things are not so much a thing what I like.
So I would be very pleased to see an orange variation too here in gnome-look.org.

What do you think about that?
Greetings
Karmicbastler

Thank you for your message. I am looking forward to see this orange variation soon.
But could you please integrate the corresponding gtk-engine in orange even so that this theme is complete please?

Thank you in advance for your great work
