Description:

A version of this Azenis Theme is now the default theme for Ultimate Edition 2.3!!

Download now contains a more compact Netbook version

::Introduction::

What is Azenis I hear you say? Azenis was originally a windowblinds theme created by J.J.Ying, now in its second carnation it has become one of their most prominent themes with almost 200,000 downloads. It has also been ported to KDE by Ezy where it has proved equally successful. I decided to have a go at creating a port for gnome, i got permission from both J.J.Ying and Ezy and this is the result.

::Development::

I have currently uploaded a standard black and blue version as well an icon theme. Various other coloured versions including red, green, purple and gold versions of theme has also been created by myself and others. whilst a whiter version is still in progress that i hope to have ready soon. Please feel free to post comments and suggestions

Thanks and i hope you enjoy my theme

::Package contains::

-Gtk and Metacity Themes
-Nautilus Background
-Default Wallpaper
-Font
-Netbook version (Metacity and gtk)

::Installation instructions::

1. Download the file and place on your desktop
2. Open a terminal and run these commands:

sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Azenis /usr/share/themes

3. Open the theme manager, you can now
select the Azenis theme,
when you click on it, it will apply the gtk and metacity themes as well as the icon and cursor themes if you have them installed. It will also give you the option of using the wallpaper provided with this theme.

Alternatively you can download the deb installer package created by TheeMahn, it is currently consistent with the 0.2.7 release of Azenis and contains Azenis, Azenis red as well as both of their matching icon themes, wallpapers, GDM, a Grub splash and the Usplash theme

::Links::

Lots of other really great Azenis Skins and themes to compliment the look created by others in the community. I strongly recommend a look =)

Hi I truly think you have some of the best work out there! I was wondering if you had plans for a red icon set? or may be a set your own color icon set, now that would be cool ! I have no idea what that would entail but it would be cool! Anyway thanks for the great work ! we can always expect the best from you! cheers !

Well I have seen set your own color themes,And was thinking, If you made a default transparency (Say blue would be the default) Of the placement of the colors on all the icons, Then colorized the transparency's Deep blue,red yellow ect. so that you could set the color of the icon theme prior to installation, Like have the raw icons in a given package and color folders in a given package then maybe drag the color folder (the color you want) into the raw icon package,Then install that icon theme, Like I said I don't know what that would entail,or if it is even feasible, But If It could be done that would be the $!*# !(very good) Just a thought !

That does sound like a very cool idea and one i will almost certainly have to have a look into doing at come point. however at the moment i don't really think it is something i can take up as it would be a massive project and i have already got SOO many on the go. Thanks for the idea i really hope we get a few of those one day though =)

Very nice theme. I'm using it on my Xubuntu desktop as we speak.

One problem I noticed is that the Audacious skin isn't backward-compatible with XMMS. It's probably not your department, but I did upload a backward-compatible version of the skin.

The XMMS-compatible skin is here if you wish to add it to your links:

Thankyou very much Johnny that means alot, although im really not quite sure im in the same league as TheeMahn. Id imagine he has this many downloads a day (if not more). I've got to say you have been uploading some very high quality content yourself recently, alot of your guides and walk-throughs ive found invaluable! I've still got a few more small wrinkles id like to iron out of this theme and possibly add a few more extras (not to mention the finishing Azenis icon theme) and theres some of my other work that needs some attention but i am planning on getting started on a few new projects in the near future =)

All the best mate,

James

 Unique

This is a very beautiful and unique theme.

There is a problem with this theme and several others that however beautiful the theme is, I find issues when using FireFox and some other programs(I forgot). Use this theme, and go to YouTube or something of the like using FireFox, and you'll notice that some of the text may be so light that they can't be read, even in text input areas. Some themes have a dark color and the text is also very dark, so very difficult to read on panel bars for instance.

Hi thanks for the comment. Unfortunately as is the case with many themes (particularly with dark themes) there are some colour inconsistencies. These are generally particularly prolific on the Internet where sites seem to apply their own style buttons etc that clash with the text and making it hard to read. These problems can be made worse if you already have programs open when you apply the theme. Firefox i have found in particular can be very bad for retaining some characteristics of the previous theme. Try simply restarting firefox (and whichever problem programs you have) and see if that helps your situation. If this doesn't help send me a few screenshots and ill see if i can help in any way.

Thanks again and all the best,

James

An interesting solution to this is to create an internal firefox css file and theme. The Moonlight2 Theme creator does this.

The orange cursor by default would also be much better. The blue simply fades in the background make it hard to see.
