Description:

A version of this Azenis Theme is now the default theme for Ultimate Edition 2.3!!

Download now contains a more compact Netbook version

::Introduction::

What is Azenis I hear you say? Azenis was originally a windowblinds theme created by J.J.Ying, now in its second carnation it has become one of their most prominent themes with almost 200,000 downloads. It has also been ported to KDE by Ezy where it has proved equally successful. I decided to have a go at creating a port for gnome, i got permission from both J.J.Ying and Ezy and this is the result.

::Development::

I have currently uploaded a standard black and blue version as well an icon theme. Various other coloured versions including red, green, purple and gold versions of theme has also been created by myself and others. whilst a whiter version is still in progress that i hope to have ready soon. Please feel free to post comments and suggestions

Thanks and i hope you enjoy my theme

::Package contains::

-Gtk and Metacity Themes
-Nautilus Background
-Default Wallpaper
-Font
-Netbook version (Metacity and gtk)

::Installation instructions::

1. Download the file and place on your desktop
2. Open a terminal and run these commands:

sudo cp -r $HOME/Desktop/Azenis /usr/share/themes

3. Open the theme manager, you can now
select the Azenis theme,
when you click on it, it will apply the gtk and metacity themes as well as the icon and cursor themes if you have them installed. It will also give you the option of using the wallpaper provided with this theme.

Alternatively you can download the deb installer package created by TheeMahn, it is currently consistent with the 0.2.7 release of Azenis and contains Azenis, Azenis red as well as both of their matching icon themes, wallpapers, GDM, a Grub splash and the Usplash theme

::Links::

Lots of other really great Azenis Skins and themes to compliment the look created by others in the community. I strongly recommend a look =)

I personally have had alot of problems getting mine to change. Theoretically you should be able to change it by simply changing this file /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp

 Suggestion

I love you theme. It's very complete and detailed.
I'd like to make you a suggestion:
I'm not a DE user (I don't use gnome, xfce, kde or lxde). I use openbox and I can't find a theme for my window manager matching yours. This is a very frustrating situation people like me have to confront frecuently, most gtk designers make only metacity themes. I can see you made a compiz theme also and you keep developing you amazing theme... it would be very interesting if you consider making an openbox theme for this design, it would encourage more people use your theme.

Thanks and sorry my bad english.

Thanks im very pleased you like the theme. I have to confess i have absolutely no experience with openbox but appreciate the frustration you must get at so many themes not catering for you. I will make an attempt at looking into creating a window manager theme compatible with your set-up however as i mentioned i do have absolutely no prior experience so it could take some time if i find i can even do it myself. Alternatively i don't know if you know of anybody else with a similar set-up to yourself that has experience in theming but if you do id be more than happy to let somebody else have a crack at porting it (im sure they could do a far better job than myself anyway =)). However as i say i will have a look into it and see what i can do, thanks again for the comment and suggestion,

All the best,

James

I've seen your new version of this theme. I have another suggestion:
the side bars are too thick for my taste. Sometimes I open an application and the bars takes the whole attention taking off the uniformity of the theme. I think it would be enough with the half of the size matching the other bars on the middle of the Widget Factory window.

Keep up the excelent work.
Sorry my bad english.

Hiya again, I just wanted to check by side bars you do mean the scroll bars that appear on the right-hand side and potentially the bottom of the page correct? I have been considering creating a more netbook friendly version of this theme where potentially those and some other elements would be shrunk down in size a little. Its a nice idea to use the range meters as a scrollbar so i may well use that in it.

=) Im actually using the same name as the original i ported from. Your guess is as good as mine although that would make quite a bit of sence given the "tyreish" looks of the panel etc

Really thanks, I've downloaded and I'm using now the Azenis theme! It's Great!

Now the best themes for gtk are:

* Azenis (Blue) + Azenis Icons

* Overglossed + Ubuntu_HumanAzul Icons

Hey, you may want to have a look at this:

I allowed myself to pack your beautiful themes and all the related stuff in a convenient installation package.

I hope you like the idea.

Hiya,

I had been considering doing the same thing myself but felt as it is still an on-going project in lots of areas, plus with it being a collective effort from a growing number of individuals, (yourself being the latest =)) that it was better to leave it for the short term. That being the case you seem to have packaged them well so hats off to you and good luck maintaining it =) feel free to contact me at any point if you need to know anything. Also just quickly i realise that most of what you have included is my work, but the cursor theme was created by Kuduk and if you are going to include it i think you should really let him know.

All the best,

James

FYI
Kuduk gave me his permission and I've also mentioned his name in my pack page

I'm thinking of packing this updated one so it includes also the red, and perhaps also the cairo dock, all built together in a self-extracting .bin installer, would you like me to do it?

great theme! i have everything but the cairo clock theme installed and it gives my computer a great look. i was browsing through conkys and i found a .conkyrc that goes great with this theme. it can be found here:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Conky+Script?content=96866

but onto my main point.....
i see that you've got an audacious theme, but a lot of linux users seem to use songbird. have you considered making a songbird theme? and also about the audacious theme... i went to the link you posted, but i couldn't find the skin. i'm not sure if it's just me, but if you could point me to it, that would be great

Hi, Thankyou very much for your kind comments. Also thanks for pointing out that ive got the wrong link up. the download link should still work however or alternatively just type in this...

http://solidfiles.com/d/f65de737be2a1421382d8b496d378945

Regarding a songbird theme, in honesty i had not previously considered it, as yet i have barely used the program though keep intending to use it more. It is something however i will definitely look into doing, so keep your eyes posted for that
(as well as one or 2 other things ive got in the pipeline).

Also the conky file you suggested works perfectly with the theme, ive just added a few tweaks to my own (font/RSS feeds and mail etc) but its a very nice design =)

All the best,

James
