Description:

Okay, here it goes:

Ct-gtk is a gtk 2.x theme which shall give you a complete new feeling using gnome. It comes with 4 different versions: a blue one, a red one, a green one and a grey one. There are also 3 different panel backgrounds included - two different black ones and a transparent one. This guarants that everyone will find the style he or she prefers. If you decide to download - please leave feedback if you like or if you don't like. For now I'll stop working on this one as main project but be sure that there will be an update if you want to have one. :)

PS: Sorry for my english.

**NOTE**

You have to unpack "CT-gtk.tar.bz2" before you install.

=======================================

Panel background:

If you want to change the panel bg go to "~/.themes/CT-gtk/gtk-2.0/" and open "panel.rc". In the first few lines are the panel background settings.

**Panel backgrounds can be found in "~/.themes/CT-gtk/gtk-2.0/Panel"**

Mate, your theme is great and menus are just amazing. BUT, I don't understand why so many times you choosed grey instead of black as a font color. It just makes things difficult to read (i.e. evolution, everything is grey there, it's hard to recognize at glimpse if there are new unread e-mails), even nautilus folders text. Or maybe I have some settings wrong..

Hm I don't know what you mean - I've no problems with the colors. Maybe you check your settings again!?

If you don't see anything wrong could you please take a screenshot of your problems and post it here because I've not noticed probs with evolution or nautilus yet and I also don't find any problems.

I'm trying to find anything I don't like about this theme and for I found nothing :) Just dark and powerful! I would like to see this theme in green, but probably it wouldn't look as good as it looks right now. Great job again!

Sorry but I don't really have the time to rework the theme completely - you're allowed to mod it yourself if you want to :) then I'd upload the sources.

Man, I just love your work. It's one of the most singular themes I have seen here.
I'd like to make a suggestion: I'm not a gnome user, I use openbox and didn't find an ob theme that matches yours. Maybe you could make a openbox theme for all those who need it. It would be very nice don't go looking for a foreign theme trying to match.
Thanks.
Sorry my bad english

Thanks it's so great to see that so many people enjoy this theme.

Hm, as said - I've no time and I never tryed Openbox but I guess you've everything you need to mod it yourself!
Sorry again but I'm only a little student from near Berlin who has to do a lot for school. :( If you need any source files (*.xcf) - just say.

Hi, well looking at your screenshots, I think I have all the settings right. Look at the nautilus window in your screenshot: the text beside the icons is gray, not black, and I find it difficult to read because the background is white, and it's the only thing I don't like about this theme. But maybe changing it to black would make it look worse, I don't know it's just a suggestion..

Okay, there is a problem with making font color black - the black color doesn't harmonize with some menus - the text wasn't readable anymore because the background is black and the text was also black. I could only make it darker. I hope it's a bit better.

mmmh strange, I'm sure it's possible to have different colors, look at the Dust theme, it has white text in the dark menus, and black text on white background..

Changed the top color and added a new transparent panel bg :) You could also make the panel transparent with compiz.

Thanks for feedback - thats what I need :)

If you want to change the panel bg go to "~/CT-gtk/gtk-2.0/" and open "panel.rc" ---> I can not found it in my /home/username ???? where is it ? I can't find it everywhere.
fyi: I installed the light one, to make my top panel not too black, is it correct ?

thanks

>> This depends on the way you've installed the theme - the folder should be found in '/usr/share/themes' or '/home/yourusername/.themes/' - note: you have to be root to make changes in /usr/share/themes/. You know that there are different versions of the theme now - you have to go to the folder of the theme that you're using and make the changes there.

> "fyi: I installed the light one, to make my top panel not too black, is it correct ?"

>> No ;D the light one just makes metacity and menus more light - But I think the current panel background isn't too dark at all.

Hi. very quick update ... hmmm :)
I already know my location of your panel.rc file, which in my: /home/username/.themes/CT-gtk-light/gtk-2.0

I already open panel.rc file or /home/username/.themes/CT-gtk-light/gtk-2.0/Panel

But I can not understand anything :) . I am using gnome, thats why I have top panel, in which either your CT-gtk-light or CT-gtk-blue not transparent in Applications-Places-System menu.

I already using compiz to setup my drop-down menu with transparent style and either in my Top panel except the Applications-Places-System menu still in solid black.

Can you help me how to change your panel.rc or ~/panel so I can have your CT-gtk with transparent things on my system.

Good work ... and keep update.

Thanks

Okay here it goes:

To make your Panel background transparent open /home/you/.themes/CT-gtk-light/panel.rc - go to line 8. Thats what you'll find:

bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[SELECTED] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[INSENSITIVE] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[PRELIGHT] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"
bg_pixmap[ACTIVE] = "Panel/panel-bg.png"

What you see here are the panel backgrounds for the different panel situations. You see that the current panel bg is 'Panel/panel-bg.png'.
You just have to change 'Panel/panel-bg.png' to 'Panel/panel-bg3.png'. Then open terminal and type: 'killall -9 gnome-panel'. Now your current panel bg should be the transparent one.

Alternative way:

Open CompizConfig SettingsManager and search "Opacity, Brightness and Saturation" settings - open these. Now you have add a new field in the 'windo specific settings'. Type "(name=gnome-panel)" into the "windows-field" and chose your window value. 100 is no transparency and 0 is full trancparency.

To make your menus transparent add again a new setting and type "PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | (type=Menu)" into the "windows"-field. After this chose your window values.

Works fine for me - tell me if you have problems.
