Description:

There are very few usable dark themes out there. Most of them are too dark, too rich in contrast or simply ugly, so I decided to create a new one^^

The acid theme is based on wii-black, I used its gtkrc and replaced all images, so you wont really see any similarities, but i was glad to have something i could start from.

I replaced the emerald theme with a metacity theme created by darkmusic, it looks much better now.

The icon theme used in the screenshots is "simply grey" (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/SimplyGrey?content=93674)

I hope you like it ;)

Many thanks to:

- darkmusic (http://gnome-look.org/usermanager/search.php?username=darkmusic) for providing this great metacity theme (LSD).

- nanoflower (http://gnome-look.org/usermanager/search.php?username=nanoflower) for making the wii_black theme.

- TonyJ for porting lsd to openbox (http://www.box-look.org/content/show.php?content=103451)

Changelog:

- 0.1: Initial release
- 0.2: Most widgets with gradients
- 0.2.1: New emerald theme, selection fields are now readable
- 0.2.2: LSD Metacity theme included, uploaded a fitting wallpaper
- 0.3: Gradients & darker colors for panel, menubar and toolbar

 Intersting

It's an interesting approach and I'm sure banging away will reveal a "look" Don't mind the low rating because something good can come out of this.

Perhaps a combination of acid, fiberglass texture, and gloss will help the satin look "pop out"

I'm really liking what you are doing here. Its a really nice approach. You can probably tell from my own themes that I'm not a huge fan of the over-done glossy, vista, OS X, look that everybody else is doing.

What I've learned from this site is a low rating either means your theme is really hideous (not in your case) or just really unique.

Keep it up and don't get discouraged! Also, I would suggest releasing a couple of these themes in different colors.

P.S. you really should add a metacity theme in here, even if it just somebody else's that you've changed the colors. It really helps make the theme feel more complete, just don't forget to give the original artist credit.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

I wont make something glossy in this theme, because IMHO its really difficult to create a decent glossy dark theme(and i don't like glossy themes^^), but i am thinking about making everything a little bit more plastic, to look like this:

I think they are definitely looking better, so i will probably use them.

are gradients so that it's not entirely flat. I think you could actually pull off an entirely flat theme if it were slimmer and had sharper edges. Either way, the color scheme rocks and I can't wait to see improvements!
