Lemon POS for bar/cafe

Application: Lemon POS - Jan 9 2010
answered
Question:Hi, I'm opening a bar soon, and I have the choice between buying a complete POS set incl software, or simply running my own server with a touch screen and my own POS software (which is my fav option). So my question is, is Lemon POS fit for such thing? I basically need it to work with a touchscreen, and it needs programmable buttons (for quick access to certain products)... Ideally I just have most of the stuff available right on the main screen so I just have to 'touch' it...

Another thing is that I am opening my place in Lebanon, which uses both the US DOllar and Lebanese Pounds. Does Lemon POS support multiple currencies; eg can it show me prices and totals in 2 currencies, and tell me how much I am to return in either currency?

I havent got a linux machine yet, otherwise i'd test it. For now I'm just looking around a bit...

Thanks...

Answer:Hi, lemon pos should be the right software, but touchscreens are slower to handle! look for example at tkkasse. sorry, with the multi-currency i can´t help you. try the lemonpos-wiki

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/lemonpos/index.php?title=Main_Page

or the mailinglist:
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/lemonpos-general

if the money is secondary, use the POS. highest availability, good performance and industrial hardware are fine things...

hope, it helps
