Update to 0.6.1

Application: OPDS catalog - Jan 28 2015
answered
Question:Apparently, I installed v0.5.4 of the OPDS Catalog app. It is working now, but when I go to the Apps page of the Owncloud admin account, I select the OPDS catalog app, and there is a button that says 'update to 0.6.1'. When I clicked on this, My owncloud server showed the maintenance page for several hours. I had to log into the server and edit the config.php to take the server out of maintenance mode. What is the correct way of updating the OPDS Catalog app?

Thanks for a great app!

Answer:OPDS catalog can be updated any which way you like, either through the Apps app (which you did) or manually. The update does not cost much time.

The long, long, (...long...) wait you see is not caused by OPDS catalog but by the Owncloud upgrade process which does a 'migration test' to find out whether any of the scheduled updates could cause problems in the database. This migration test takes a long time as it copies the entire *DB_PREFIX*filecache table to a temporary table. This happens to be the biggest table in the database (if you're using MySQL you can try select count(*) from oc_filecache; from within the cli to see just how big - on my 'home'cloud it has 10032746 entries). If you kill the migration test, it'll leave a temporary table in the database (*DB_PREFIX*filecache_randomhexstring).

If you're only updating OPDS catalog - which I know not to cause migration problems - you can skip the migration test by executing the upgrade manually from the server command line:
Quote:
occ upgrade --skip-migration-test

Be aware though if you happen to have other scheduled upgrades as you don't know whether those can cause problems during migration. If you have a good, recent backup - and I hope you do - you could take the risk. If not, just be patient as the upgrade should finish after a (long) while.
