Description:

eGtk Mac Theme v1.02

First of all, it's not a complete mac emulation. And it won't be. I've used many of mac-style elements like buttons, scrollbars, progressbar, but all in all i want it to go well with linux aplications and to look good with nautilus-elementary, so there won't be mac-style tabs for example .

Color scheme, and part of code comes from eGtk by DanRabbit, and i've tried to keep "elementary look".

::Theme::
-It needs Equinox, Aurora and Murrine engine!
-Theme was made on Maverick Meerkat, so it uses Murrine from GIT, i don't know if it will work on Lucid without that version of Murrine

-Panel backgrounds are in the "eGtk Leopard mod" archive/folder. By default theme has no panel background.

-There are two versions in the .zip package. Theme "eGtk Leopard Small" has a bit smaller buttons, check/radiobuttons and scale. This variant of theme will be further miniaturized ;-)

::Credits::
- Credits goes to DanRabbit - theme uses some of eGtk code and ideas. To Seahorsepip - he made great view-mode-button which i've modded here. And to Lauri Taimila - i've used some of his OSX-Tiger theme graphic.

::Instalation::
-Just unzip "eGtk Leopard mod" archive, and install tar.gz file with your theme manager. Or you can unpack tar.gz file, and copy "eGtk Leopard" folder to your .Themes folder

Changelog:

v1.02 - 4.XI.2010
-Small update:
-Changed selected background color to a bit darker blue - more similar to color used by Mac Os X
-Thinner scrollbars in "Small" version.

v1.01 - 26.X.2010
-Smaller widgets in "Small" version.
-Added shadows on marked checkbuttons.
-Added insensitive marked check button and radiobutton.
-Added insensitive slider in scale.

 Doesn't look like yours

Hi,

great job, very nice, but mine doesn't look like yours, not the dock neither the window buttons (mines are in the opposite side of the window). I've installed Aurora from http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Aurora+Gtk+Engine+%28Fedora+RPMs%29?content=118089 and elementary-icon-theme.noarch, gtk-murrine-engine.x86_64 and gtk-equinox-engine.x86_64 from repos but I still don't get it to look like yours, can you give me a hand? thanks

Hi there. Dock is third party software and is not themed by gtk theme. I use AWN dock with "Iron Dock" theme <theme is on DeviantArt". And for the window buttons in the opposite side - there are two ways for fixing this:
1. You can install Ubuntu Tweak (ubuntu-tweak.com) which allows you to change many things that are not easly changeable.

2. You can go to terminal, type "gconf-editor" and configuration editor will appear. On your left will be tree -> go to: apps -> metacity -> general. On the right side will appear things you can change. Find line "button_layout" and change its valuea to "close,minimize,maximize:" and that will do the trick.

I assume you're using nautilus-elementary? If not, i really encurage you to try it. (more about it here http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/ubuntu-1010-nautilus-elementary-ppa.html )

Hi,

sorry but I'm newbie to config appearance, which file should I edit to add that?

How did you manage to get the dock looking like that? I've got Gnome-do and I don't get that look.

Many thanks

Sorry for not responding for so long, i was away froma any computer with internet connection. Well Timorei, what can i say... Great job!! :-) Bug disapeared so you rocks :-)

I have also gave a look to your modifications i mod. You're right that round entries looks better. Buttons: option-menu-button is too thin, others looks good. And notebook made with murrine... i prefer equinox but murrine is also good.

Anyway - good job! And of course i have a question - can i add your fix to gedit.rc file in next update? Of course with adnotation that credits for this fix belongs to you.

Glad you could use some of it.

Am still using the theme myself. Used to not like total conversions all that much, and I had a mac back in the days when they were still ppc.

Now using this theme, and cairo-dock and the indicator-appmenu I am actually very VERY happy with the way this gnome desktop mimics one of the nices (not the best! it has it's flaws) desktops there is.

I am very much thinking about ditching the appmenu again. But it seems to be the only way to get rid of the menubar in all apps (evolution has no option, gajim doesn't ...). But it's utter crap with the sloppy focus I so much like ever sind fvwm2 was "the new experimental shit!". :D

So: parts I do want to still improve:
The sliders on the ranges are a tad big for my taste. The buttons in firefox should not all use the hover effect (looks a tad stupid) and... well, everything else I am rather satisfied. Might convert it to a graphite set.

You sir, provided me with a perfect basis to macify my gnome! Thanks.

this is btw how I have the tabs now. I think thats pretty much the best possible.

I just used gimp to scale down the range-sliders to 15px all. looks a good bit better - especially in the gimp and other places where those sliders have a very limited amount of space. adjusted a couple of values too, but am not shure about the effects. *shrugs* One step closer to perfection. :D

Please respect Linux and stop making themes to have it look like OS X!

This is very disrespectful to Linux and shows you do not understand the ROOTS of Linux and what it represents.

NO TRUE LINUX GEEK would ever do this!

It's disgusting! :(

A true Linux geek would use what they want and not try to force their beliefs on others like you are doing.
