Description:

I just got a new computer pre-installed with Ubuntu -- and this time around, I now have hardware that supports Compiz effects! :-)

However, that also meant I had to download some stuff all over again, and I noticed that the bundling of a Metacity theme and icons hadn't gone as smoothly as I had hoped, so this revision only consists of the GTK theme itself as well as the green panels.

Therefore, I will just say that for a Metacity theme, I recommend BVC's "Unity Round" with this, which can be found at http://www.ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/Unity?content=59694 (there are four variations on the Metacity theme included in the package).

For icons, I recommend MikeTheScientist's "Crimsonman" theme, which is a red version of Ubuntu's Human icons, which can be found at http://www.ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/Crimsonman?content=87302.

Enjoy! :-)

Changelog:

Package now consists of GTK theme and panels only, but with recommendations for Metacity theme and icons on this page.

Shades of green have been brightened in the highlight color, the titlebar, and on the panels.

Human Grey icons have been replaced with MikeTheScientist's "Crimsonman" icon theme (available on Ubuntu-Art.org, but oddly enough, not on GNOME-Look.org)

Pardon me for this showing up as "Fresh" -- I had a little trouble trying to do this as an update!

 I forgot to mention...

For GNOME users, this theme also includes the "Unity" Metacity theme. If you're an Xfce user, the "Wallis" xfwm theme looks a lot like the "Unity" Metacity theme, so Xfce users, you'll be able to get more or less this exact same look, too! :-)

I also forgot to mention that the icons can be found at http://www.ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/Crimsonman?content=87302

There -- I'm done with stuff I forgot to previously mention! :)

 Not bad

For the most part this does feel like a Christmas theme, it just feels like there are bits and pieces which don't match or go together well.

I know it. For instance, I have a bulky older-style CRT monitor at home, but at work, I have a flat LCD monitor, and I noticed that the red icons seem to be a little washed-out on LCD monitors.

One thing this theme could benefit from are some custom icons that specifically LOOK like they were designed with the Christmas season in mind, except I don't know squat about creating Vector images for some icons I have in mind.

I could, of course, download Inkscape and read its help files...if I could only find the time, that is...

 I agree.

For the most part, I do agree that the icons is mostly what throws off the theme, and yes making icons takes a long time, so that much is understandable. This is why I said not bad, as you did your best with your resources.

Thanx! :-) I'm using it right now with the Xmas Metacity theme. It's at http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Xmas+Theme?content=91209

It's a little garish as far as themes go, but it's definitely festive, that's for sure. I'm also trying the GnomeXP icons, even though that adds a (ahem!) Windows influence into it, but at least they are colorful icons.
