Yep, not similar to 5.1 Surround...
I think it was recorded with him sitting at his desk in a likely spartan office.
Maybe I would call it "authentic".
Do you know the music-video of this song interpreted by "The GNU-staff"?
It's a very nice performance.
You'll find it in the WWW or on the DVD of the Film "Revolution OS".

Good idea, but the sound isn't great.

There's also a heavy metal/growl version available by Jono Bacon.

And a rap/rock version by fenster.

That was the "GNU/Stallmans" and that version (while sounding better) still had those ghastly lyrics.

Stallman should "keep his day job"....
