A western theme.

Gtk2 theme for: Xfxe4, Gnome2, Mate, E17, IceWm, OpenBox3, StandAlone Compiz, Fluxbox, etc.,

Tested in the latest Archlinux OS using icewm-1.3.8-1,
xfce4-10.1-3

Screenshot 1 shows old look vs. new

Fixed button bottom fade

Changed range and scrollbar sliders

Added another window background , now have two choices the old leather look or the new weathered board look

No, I looked over gtk3, when it first came out and decided
it was not for me. It is too restrictive and allows very
limited artistic imput.

I guess the gnome developers are going for a light, unified look with gtk3, mayhaps to catch a growing market, of low end graphics and the low end processor of
pads and phones.

I prefer gtk2 and the less restrictive and free style.
I like choice and I like themes, and themes come from
ideas and experimentation and sometimes lots of alterations to get the .... look....

Maybe, later those gtk3 developers will loosen their
choke hold and let that great css style cut loose.

this one is extremely nice, i'm using it with e17 and a matching theme

have not booted into e17 for a couple of months,
been working on this theme.
Which theme are you using in e-17? Ambient_Bodhi.edj,
would be my guess.

newer firefox versions do repeat mmenubar gradient in toolbar. so this program looks horrible. do you know an goodmatching firefox theme?. in. gimp percent zoom box at bottom are looking wrong. that are the only errors i could find. keep up your good work.
btw: ive ported the theme to gtk3 and cinnamon. it looks à bit flat, but not so much as you'll think. since your theme is opensource and gpl, gtk3 would be gpl even if i prefer creative comments. you'll see gtk3 port when its stable. posting half finished themes, is bad.

I am using Firefox 29.0.1, with default theme.
However, I could not stand the new interface and added the
Classic Theme Restorer 1.1.8, an extension, which brings back the
old look. The only real difference I notice now, the entry is flat, but
the rest looks ok.

Arora and Midori, are nice web browsers that match the gtk2 theme.
They also use less memory than firefox, opera, chromium.
Chromium being, the big memory hog and ugly to boot.
I think it is time to let that one go.

I use Gimp almost exclusively, and do not see any problems with
version 2.8.10, my bet is probably something from gtk3 has messed
with your Version.

I put the following lines in every theme I make.

- design by daman
- and any inspired artist to follow (feel free to modify)
- when completed,please... share your work

So, please do share. that keeps us creative.

Your last line, is something I always strive for and hope that I am
getting better at. ;)

Hi,
gtk3 is now posted as : BownOldWest for ubuntu 14.0 . ' wanted to write brown but my keyboard only typed bown. Can you say me which gtk2 class does even odd color treview style ???.

I dind`t find the gtk3 class. Apart from that i managed to clone everything, as close as its possible on gtk3. Scrollbar handle, might added in future.I'll rewrite gtk2 tab section on my theme fork, however.

The standard treeview way uses:
GtkTreeView::odd-row-color = "#4D4736"
GtkTreeView::even-row-color = "#423E30" # treeview bg color for file mngrs
line numbers 79 & 80 of the gtkrc

However, I have also used:

to overide the default and give a textured look to file managers,
sidebar treeview.

By the way, I did find you were right about gimp's Zoom combobox
entry on the statusbar, the entry shadow does not completely fill.
I tried several different fixes, but nothing changed. Recently
added shading to my standard gtkrc's entry-style. The old way
of just setting a bg color works, but not willing to give up the new
look in this instance for gimp.

I use Gimp's keyboard shortcuts for Gimp's zoom,
1=100%, 2=200%, 3=400%, 4=800%, 5=1600%

Just looked at your screenshot of the gtk3,
It looks better than I expected, nice work.

You can define a gimprc or gtkrcf inside of .gimp*
right? Can you send me a pastebin link for gtk2 combbobox entry without gradient?(sry my gtk2 skills are not so good)
Why not simple write an patch for gimp there. You could add this to readme file inside theme. Or create an gimp gtkrc folder patch.tar.gz inside theme folder.

The treview looks now much better on gtk3 thx.
I used single color style, for several reasons, but i managed at lkeast to get the focused (row button??) to look exactly as in your theme. Now gtk3 open file windows are looking much better and are more readable. This also affects nautilus and nemo =).

Yeah, I could go that way with Gimp, but I do not like to make
specific mod for specific app. If I can do it with generalized
tweak that still conforms to my theme, I am for that. Why?
cause apps come and go,or change their defaults at whim.

Here are two of my themes that use my old entry style and
look nice with Gimp.

So, download one or both and open up the gtkrc,
then Ctrl+F >type in "entry" then Ctrl+G to toggle thru the gtkrc.
The main point is setting entries with....
base[NORMAL] = "#81896A"
set the color to whatever entry bg color you like.
