Description:

Important: If you like multisized mouse themes and you do not have trouble installing, I suggest you install it, but as multisized. Only you will install a multisized mouse theme and will choose one of six. The address of my package is http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/%2BDMZ?content=160149. Thank you.
**************************************************************

This is a modification of DMZ cursor theme. They were modified with Gimp 2.8 and the new pointers and animations made with Inkscape. They are an attractive pointers of 32 pixels, for people who like this marvelous cursor theme.
Cursors are looking well in both dark and clear backgrounds.

I've noticed that it has become a very popular topic, so I decided to make some changes that some friends have suggested. I will appreciate any comments to improve this cursor theme.
  • This X11 mouse theme has animations and new pointers.

  • It's almost flat, because only has shadow's blur and hasn't any degradated image.

  • It has always worked fine in Gnome and Unity, and now I've added some symlinks to Steam, and everything needed for KDE, so now this one works great in these four Desktop Environments.

  • I have tested it in KDE with Kwin, Xfce, Gnome 2.x, Gnome 3.x, Unity and it works great.
I would change some things so you can expect updates. If you find any errors, please let me know in the comments section.

    HOW TO INSTALL IT
  • 1- Locate the file "157980-DMZPack.tar.gz" downloaded. It's probably in your Downloads folder.

  • 2- Right click on it and left click on "extract here". You will see the folder "DMZPack". This include six themes: aDMZ, bDMZ, fDMZ, gDMZ, rDMZ and yDMZ, which are the themes to install: a=aqua, b=black, f=fuchsia, g=green, r=red and y=yellow.

  • 3- Move as root each theme folder to /usr/share/icons. Open a terminal as root and you can use the following command line, changing a in aDMZ by b, f, g, r or y
    Quote:
    mv Downloads/DMZPack/aDMZ /usr/share/icons/

  • ON KDE
  • 4- Change cursor theme, by example aDMZ, with desktop setting tools.

  • 5- If you want to make it the default cursor and see this cursor theme on login screen KDM, you must edit as root the index.theme system file located in /usr/share/icons/default. Use next command:
    Quote:
    nano /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme

and then change the name present after of "=", sign to aDMZ

  • 6- Reboot.

  • ON GNOME or UNITY
  • 4- Now we choose a theme, by example aDMZ, writing the next command line in terminal:
    Quote:
    sudo ln -fs /usr/share/icons/aDMZ/cursor.theme /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme

  • 5- Select the cursor theme with MyUnity, gnome-tweak-tool, ubuntu-tweak or another Desktop Settings Tool.

  • 6- Reboot.

  • I hope you like them! Thanks.

    Changelog:

  • 2013 Jul v1.5 .New colors, pointers, and animations. I did it a lot of modifications.

  • 2013 May v0.2 New animated pointers: watch and left_ptr_watch.

  • 2013 Apr v0.1 Initial release.

     Issue with +DMZ

Is there an issue with having the +DMZ (sizable) AND the set up with the aDMZ, bDMZ being installed at the same time?

The first simplier one works fine, but when I install +DMZ and it comes time to customize, I see the +DMZ only with a green arrow which I can not change the size of.

Could I be doing something wrong? I have extracted and copied to /usr/share/icons in both cases.

I am running Linux Mint 13
    (3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP)

    Thanks

No. Both themes are independent. You can install all themes without problems: aDMZ, bDMZ, fDMZ, gDmz, rDMZ, yDMZ, and the multisized theme +DMZ.
With multisized themes, the issue are the windows manager's bugs.
In this page http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Alkano?content=158776, I explain similar problem using compiz as windows manager.
What desktop environment and windows manager are you using in your linux mint 13?

    Tip:
I'd suggest you try the new Linux Mint 15 Olivia but with KDE as desktop environment and Kwin as windows manager. You will not have problems with mouse's multisized themes.

    Thank you.

I am running the MATE desktop environment.
I like to stick to Mint LTS versions as upgrading to new verions seems to be a lot of work.

Thanks for you help. The [a-y]DMZ work just fine, just can not get the resizable ones to work as they will not re-size.

Then I'd suggest you try the PCLinuxOS. It has KDE as desktop environment and Kwin as windows manager. You will not have problems with mouse's multisized themes. I have running this one on my PC. It is Rolling Release Distro.

It is great. Test it on virtual machine. If you like it, then install it. You never will not have problems. And good bye Gnome, Unity, Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce.......
