Description:

A theme to match the B_and_W theme in the awesome E17 window manager; all credits for the ideas to the creator of that theme. Goes well with icon theme magog white, kudos to that too.
There has been an attempt to do this before, but there were many black on black and white on white bugs. I\'ve tried to find and fix as many as possible for my theme. Help me find more.

Read the readme inside the gtk-2.0 folder.

Known issues:
- browsers don't listen very well to gtk themes; they listen better to css; I've added samples in a folder 'Browserstuff' for firefox, seamonkey, swiftweasel and midori.
- small white text on bright text issues with evolution (hardly bothering) and vlc (it takes button text but not background in 'statusbar', and preferences window has some issues)
- abiword draws white behind combos instead of the toolbar png; can't help it

Question: if someone knows how to theme the buttons at the ends of the scrolling menu, let me know (for example in "save as" dialogs in oo.org or abiword, the dropdown for filetype).
Question 2: do you like the toolbar buttons as they are, or do you want them like the normal buttons and have only tabs as they are now, like gradients? Current way fits well with e.g. firefox prefs window, but I'm unsure about the toolbars. Also it is easily bugged for instance in gimp.

Don\'t just vote down, help to make it better. Suggestions are always welcome.

Changelog:

0.6.3: scrollbar changed so they appear not inset but really inside window now;
bugfix, extra css stuff also for Conkeror now.
0.6.2: fixes (even tabs within tabs should work now); color changes (so selected text is readably with white (default) as well as black text (buggy behavior, like abiword); disabled pane colors, only listview has two colors; added css to have firefox etc. prefs and add-on window toolbar like gtk instead of glossy blue;
- scrollbars inside scrolled window, like e17 theme does (if you don't like, put a '#' in front of lines 43 and 44 of gtkrc)
- if you want to influence icon sizes and fonts directly, check lines 5 and 7 in gtkrc (currently disabled by '#')
- changed insensitive button png, what do you think? I don't like the one in the e17-theme, it's too different, so I colorized the normal button.
0.6.1: added prelight effect on scrollbars and fixes in gimp;
0.6: improved and extended css code for various browsers
- small fix to enable white tabs on a VBox; if some *** draws tabs within tabs (like in gstyle) you'll have black on black tab buttons, but I have to draw a line somewhere ;) .

0.5: Major improvements appreciated with release bump ;)
- code cleaned and ordered
- enabled gtk-color-scheme
- fixed pidgin and gimp
- better way of getting selected tab white text
- better statusbar stuff, fixed nautilus list view, selecting items in Tree menu (like midori location bar dropdown)
- added grip and a little effect on radio/check button text

0.3.1: added very subtle prelight / press effect; let me know what you think
0.2.1: added window bg.png
0.2: improved toolbar image
0.1.2: fixed list headers clawsmail (again)
0.1.1: fixed buttons on notebook

 Great, but no prelight

Could you add prelight to the buttons? It would really add a lot to the theme. I like the look, though!

Thanks for trying my theme!
Well I could do a prelight effect, but the e17 theme doesn't have that and I want to stay close to that. I could add a little shadow on prelight so we get an animated effect when the button is pressed at the same time. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm planning to do some code cleaning and adding color references on top of the gtkrc file, so at least you'll be able to change the fg color easily.

Well, couldn't resist. But it's very subtle. Let me know what you think.

G'day Vcoolio,

Very tight looking theme.

I'm interested in which applets you are using on the bottom three panels.

Cheers,

Adrian

On the left and right two shelves (like panels), with start module, pager, forecasts module and two ibars (launchers) and on the right a systray module and a clock. In the middle itask-ng (a dock), with the taskbar module. All e17-only.

Thanks for your theme, I have the complete opposite problem (light buttons with dark text on dark windows...), and figured out much by myself, but your theme seems to have solved the last problems I face, so I'm "stealing" a great bit from your code.

So my biggest respect for your work done here.

Regards, Daniel

 Good theme

I agree, I love the overall feeling of this theme, it integrates very well as one wishes with E17. Did you manage to fix button in openoffice? I see the navigation bar button are black on black too. I'm trying to fix them for myself but you wrote in your README that you wanted to be the maintainer so I put my 2 cents here.
again, great work!
