Angelic Sounds

System Sounds

Score 57%
Downloads:  16833
Submitted:  May 12 2005

Description:

This is my first try at "giving back" to the Linux community. I hope you like it! Included in the zipped tar file are some system sounds to (hopefully) make your KDE desktop sound a little more mellow. It was inspired by a log on screen I downloaded from kde-look of an angel dipping her hand into a pool of water. All the music here was written and recorded by me in 'ogg' format. Feel free to use it as you wish! Enjoy!

Hey, man. You should make some of these .wav files. I'd do it myself, but my Linux is down right now. :'(

Ahhhh, I really like your sounds! You should definitely make more.

What did you use to make them?

Ok, so this reply is only about 2 years too late! (Sorry to make you wait. Up until recently I've been really busy making alot of music here in the U.S. and Japan.)

I actually did the MIDI portion of this on a Windoze box around 2002 using Sonar. The actual recording of the music and sounds, I did only about a day or two before I posted the sounds using a Mac with Logic and finishing the product with Audacity using Mepis.

I know, I know, it's not a pure linux creation, but I was a linux newbie back then and really was having a hard time finding software that was (for me) easy to use (especially since I'm a pure writer and play the keyboard horribly).

I plan on doing some more sounds using either Ubuntu Studio and/or Musix, now that Rosegarden is a little less foreign to me now. Also, since I just recently lost my job, unfortunately I have the time to do more! Yikes!

P.S. Your sounds are great too! Are you going to come up with any more?

I've just built an Ubuntu box for my mother-in-law. I have kids old enough to want smashing, violent, in-your-face sounds for their systems (why else would this have less than 60% 'good' votes???), but I found the sounds to be nearly perfect for a sane middle-aged computer user.

That startup sound is just incredible - with the ACS45 speakers with subwoofer, it's gorgeous. Compare that to the rather lame login sound Ubuntu provides out of the box....no, on second thought, there's no comparison...

Beautiful work, that startup sound. I actually created an account here just so I could post this comment 8-)

Now, if only Gnome guys would get their act together and provide themeable sound. KDE has always been ahead of Gnome in some areas...
