 Metacity themes in xfce

by Moredhas on: Aug 2 2008

It's probably a stupid question, but can I use metacity themes in xfce? And if so, how?

Johnny was a chemist's son,
But now he is no more.
What Johnny thought was H[sub]2[/sub]O,
Was H[sub]2[/sub]SO[sub]4[/sub].

Use Metacity instead of Xfwm4? Ask someone to port your favourite theme?

no but you can replace xfwm with metacity

the easiest way is to use the fusion-icon from the compiz-fusion team(you can put it in your autostart)

themes can selected over gconf-editor under apps>metacity>general>theme

sry for my bad english

 Why can't we...

Have the XFCE themes in one section, and the XFWM themes in another, like in GNOME-Look.org. They have the GTK2 themes separate from the meta-city window manager themes.

It's not that big a deal, but I've seen some themes in here that show what looks like a complete theme, then I go to install it & find it's only the window manager. :o Tis a bit confusing when some people do add it's a WM theme & others don't. Just my 2 cents worth.

there is a lot other stuff missing here(notifyd, audacious, gmplayer-themes or slim-logins....)

i personally think xfce-look is dead and no editor is using it....

 Mini dialog windows

Hello everubody..

I have a problem from a long time with various gtk theme which are making me fool! I really can't understand why it happens and so I can't be able to solve it!
In two words when I choose the Save as or Open from the File Menu of a software (which software is not important, it happens with all the software!) it appears to me the dialog window as normal.. but it's very small! It has all the part of the dialog window.. but I alway have to re-size it or it will be unusable!

I made a creenshot to help you to understand, 'caude >I know my english is not so good! :D
The screenshot is here at imageshack:

Please somebody know what is happening to? Actually I'm having this issue with Elfin2 and Elfin2 Blue, but in the 2 years I'm using xfce I find a others themes that did the same issue!

Thank you very much!!
see you soon!!

 Buttons lefties in Chrome

 by jere2001 on: Mar 22 2011

Score 50%

My XFCE desktop is configured with the buttons of the windows on the left. But Google-Chrome is the only program that insists on turning on the right side, I know that in Gnome it does not say it is the fault of Metacity.
Is there any way to put the buttons on the left side of Chrome, without recourse to appeal to "use title and borders of the system "?
Sorry I can not speak English, I am Brazilian, if something is strange is the fault of Google translator.

 Updating content is a nightmare

Especially uploading new pictures, there is no confirmation, just very scary reload. And what's worse my browser still shows the old ones.

Visual previews are kinda important for communicating a change in appearance, don't you think?
