Linus Torvalds announces he adopted Gnome

Linus Torvalds said in a recent interview that he switched from KDE to Gnome Desktop.

Now, the curious thing was the extraneous reasons he argued to do so: Basically because of KDE4! which he sees as a not so neat move.

Why he didn't stay with KDE 3.X ? The question remains. Though he seems to continue fighting the right click menu of Gnome, which was his main reason to say nothing worked OK with it earlier, inviting people to switch to KDE.

Meanwhile, perhaps, the people who furiously attacked Gnome "'cause Torvalds says so..." some time ago, will start to understand technology affairs create passion and flames but, in the end, all that remains is usability, taste and necessity. So keep your Desktop open but, most importantly, don't believe all what your Free Software heroes say. ;)

Haha, I use both awesome3 and LXDE :)

and, yeah, it is about freedom of choice - even just the fact that you have freedom to choose between WMs (let alone DEs) is fantastic!

KDE and GNOME both have advantages and disadvantages. It depends what desktop each person likes more. Well, I like both. There's nothing wrong to use one or another, we shouldn't fight, we should work together to help improve linux and it's appearance. Linux means free mind, so we can choose what we like the most. Sorry, my English isn't good enough :)

Interesting to note mentioned not liking KDE 4.0.. I didn't like that release either and didn't find it terribly useful. But I stuck with 3.5 (surprised he didn't do that too).

Course now I use 4.2 all the time - to the point where the only reason I haven't gotten rid of windows altogether is because I'm too lazy. Wonder what Linus thinks of 4.2? It's a lot better..
