Description:

I hate everybody who vote bad only because they are jealous of someones hard work or just voting bad for fun...

someone is hard working several days and then some idiot comes and vote bad?? why? only for fun!!!

vote good if it's good - vote bad if you think it's bad, BUT DON'T VOTE BAD WITH NO REASON!!!

people who upload their creations here are working for free and their only reward is when people give them credits with good vote and good comments

Group goal is to change this site, idea is:
"when someone vote bad he must send msg or comment to autor in which he says why he is voting like that... so autor can improve or fix his creation"

another(maybe better than first)idea is:
"to add sugestion page to every upload and then when someone votes bad he must write his opinion
but there might be authors who dont want this so in page where you edit your upload it should be one checkbox with label "use sugestion page for bad vote""

 I'm calling foul.

I urge everyone to go check out the top rated emerald themes. http://www.kde-look.org/index.php?xsortmode=high&page=0&xcontentmode=103

All of the themes there look like they're in the right ballpark except for the top four. At best, you could say that they're mediocre themes, but it would be more accurate to say that they're hideous. Their download numbers even reflect this. One of them was released a month and a half ago and only has 700 downloads. Am I crazy, or is something seriously out of whack there?

That's ridicolous....I have noticed it in these days and couldn't give myself an answer why themes so hideous could have got a rating like that....maybe it's just me
or ppl like it bad ....lol

 Rate after download

Maybe, after the file has been downloaded, the user could be asked to rate the contents?

That is a good idea indeed. Who should we contact to implement it. There will certainly be someone that will not agree (ignore him because he is spammer that enjoys voting bad). So who's the guy we should talk with?

There is a group where you can suggest this kind of changes. Check out.

I think it's a good idea.
Best wishes.

Thanks for that link. I posted this opinion there:

No matter what you do, some "fanboy" will find a work around to skew the ratings.

I see users all the time on the -look.org sites "edit" their post when there is no change at all, they just want to get there work back on the front page for either "All" or the section they posted there work in. This is one way that the voting gets skewed because a particular work has more visibility.

You could force the user to make an entry in the changelog but they will still find away around that too.

If someone is really using the -look.org sites as a stepping stone to develop "real" work, create a paid subscription and only paid subscribers can vote. At least you would have users that have a vested interest making more subjective voting.

Well this happened to me also as I have changed the link only to download the file , or just added or changed a comment on the work. After that I have found out how to: simply unselect before saving (Announce update on homepage and send a notification mail to all subscribers.) That's previously selected as default:)

Why don't comment my idea? :P

Ok guys, according to this group's ideas:
RATE ME AND SEND ME SOME FEEDBACKS!
I've worked for 12 hours to make ONLY 3 VIDEOS...but noone sent me feedbacks or comments (i've received bad votes too).
So take a look @ my videos and comment my "artwork"

Thank you guys
One love!

i haven't been through all the comments of this group, but i joined it because i agree with drxnele's statement.

that's ok if someone votes bad if (s)he tells why.

i upload mainly wallpapers. usually i make several resolutions available (thus increasing cluttering - but that's another story). i'm surprised to see how the rating can be so different from one entry to another, considering that their content is the same (only image size differs).

and even though i'm aware my content is not "great", i'm don't think it deserved to be qualified as "bad".

but hey, tastes and aesthetics are mostly subjective...

still, please drop a comment if you vote bad.

 I agree

I personally have mainly been a user of the site, but when I looked at the rating system, I always thought that the rating "bad" didn't make sense for something that you are getting for free. I have seen many works that I would say would "need improvement" but are not "bad", and I would only consider something bad if it was just complete junk or did not belong on the site at all.

I like the idea of leaving a comment as to why a particular item was rated bad as it can help the developer improve the project.

I also don't usually search on this site using the "most downloaded" or "highest rated" filters because I have found many wonderful works which were not high in the rankings, but were very good ideas.

He continuously floods the *-Look.org sites with non Linux related crap that he gets from other sites and photographers.

Be creative and make your own designs for crying out loud.

Yeah, that is interesting. Maybe they should have a different voting system for artwork as opposed to software. I actually came to here via qt-apps and never really looked much into the theme sites because I just use my own photos for wallpaper.
