GLINUA (Gnome-Look Is Not Ubuntu-Art)

Artwork
Description:

Gnome-Look is not Ubuntu-Art.

No, it's not not a group against Ubuntu. It's just a group to say "Stop uploading Ubuntu wallpaper on a website that is not made for ubuntu !"

We are fed up of "ubuntu" "radiance" "Lucid", etc...

It\'s only for the respect of everybody. Gentoo users use Gentoo-art, Fedora users use Fedora-art, OpenSuse users use Suse-art... Why do ubuntu users don't use Ubuntu-art..? Maybe they just don't know that Ubuntu-art exist. So let's tell them (nicely and with respect) that they have a place for their art! :)

 Hi

I want to make clear of what I think about Ubuntu walls here.

First, I used Ubuntu a long time and think it's a good way to start quickly and simply with linux for many of us.
Second ubuntu artworks are the same as others Os artworks to me in an aristic point of view.

The only concern to me, is that we have a spamming attitude from many posters that disregard the idea of sharing and community. Some here are doing independant or Gnome purpose works that can be seen anymore by visitors because of pages and pages of ubuntu walls each time an Ubuntu version is or is to be up !

Ubuntu-art is the place for that really and it's a pity they are few to use it, because when users or visitors looks for ubuntu walls, they have a poor choice on this site ! And the site doesn't live. So I may say, it's more to defend Ubuntu-art that I join this group than to fight against Ubuntu walls here.

Of course, I also think that several Os proposing works can be posted at Gnome because it's (with KDE perhaps) the only site which is common to several OS.

But perhaps what is lacking also at OpenDesktop is a "No Logo" or "Transverse" Artwork site.

I hope I made it a bit clearer.

I'm not sure there will be a long discussion about that. I hope only that those who wants to promote their work AND Ubuntu, will think of promote sharing and community respect a bit more !

Perhaps we should rename this group "Pua" !
Promote Ubuntu Art ! Go and see, some are acting and it's a good thing. Go and support them !

No, cause it's not to promote ubuntu-art, it's to keep gnome-look a website for gnome users, and not for ubuntu users.

But if someone wants to creat a PUA group, why not? :)

Ubuntu is an old African word, it means "I am a stupid shit, I don't know how to netinstall Debian"

Ok ! I think that go and visit ubuntu-art and engage people to participate to it is is a good solution anyway !
So I got nothing to say more about the subject. I'm sure you'll understand.
I support the point anyway because the spam is excessive and I want to express it with you that way!
Keep up !

 Actually, this is openDesktop

Correct me if I am wrong, but this site is actually a part of openDesktop.org, just like Ubuntu-art is. And, for what I understand, most content is shared between various openDesktop.org websites, if the content is compatible. Go on, and you will find this same group, with the same members, and with the same comments on it, also on Ubuntu-art.org. And it doesn't make very much sense from there...

So, fact is, gtk themes are shared between gnome-look, xfce-look and all the distro-art websites. That is why you can find a lot of Gnome-oriented gtk themes down at xfce-look. So, in reality, Xfce users should be really pissed off much more than the Gnome users here.
The wallpapers are exactly the same on ALL the artwork-oriented openDesktop.org websites (go on and check it out). And so on... Everything is shared between various websites.

So, it is actually not the users fault that you see all that ubuntu-oriented artwork, they very probably ARE using ubuntu-art.org, but Ubuntu uses Gnome by default, so every GTK theme posted on ubuntu-art will automatically appear also on gnome-look and on xfce-look websites.

Anybody bothered with this should address the maintainers of openDesktop.org, not the users. It all happens by design.

I'm sorry but you're wrong : if you post a wallpaper at Ubuntu-art it won't be shown at Gnome-look. Perhaps you may try to see that !

So I don't understand your purpose here. It's clear that there are dedicated parts of openDesktop that are intended to be used for a specific purpose and that it works perfectly. Some purpose are missing, I can agree that, but the main are here. And ubuntu-art exists and if you post a ubuntu wallpaper on this site it will never appear elsewhere. Those who appear elsewhere are here because the member have posted it HIMSELF on several parts of openDesktop!
Here you have a sample I posted on Ubuntu-art :
http://ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/lighted+windows+behind+the+curtains?content=122519

It is absolutely not showing at gnome-look !
You better look better, surely !

Don't be sorry, I wanted to be corrected if I was wrong, which you proved. :-)

I double-checked right now, and I see you are right about the wallpapers, yet I am right about gtk2 themes. Go on and check for yourself, too. Any theme I checked was present in gnome-look, xfce-look and ubuntu-art. I am also right about the groups, and GLINUA exists also on Ubuntu-art. Mouse themes are shared, too (but they are not even present in ubuntu-art), while icons are not... Fonts are shared, too.
Seems like some stuff is shared, while other is not, not because of double or tripple posting, but by design, 'cause you can find all the shared stuff on exactly the same place, except for the domain name. And I doubt people would post the same fonts on all the openDesktop sites, at least all that I checked: gnome-look, xfce-look, ubuntu-art, kde-look, ede-look, box-look... all got the same fonts.

But as the description says, this group is pissed just with the wallpapers, not gtk themes and other stuff, so you are right: Gnome Look is not Ubuntu Art. I agree.
