Is difficult to explain, the secret of the openoffice fix is the window bg pixmap, in QDark 3.7 I use a gray bg, but the window bg pixmap is a black pixmap why is black background(bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "/shadows/back.png")

unless I am mistaken if openoffice detects that the background color is dark out HighContrast icons, I put a gray background and I go to the normal icons, but as a background for the windows I use a black pixmap [shadows / back.png] to hide the gray background

[I used Google Translate xD]

well, first of all, i would block it out in gimp. paint it and fill it in, then u can add gradients and effects and other stuff.

yeah black themes are great but still unusable(openoffice, qt4, you can only use chrome/chromium as webbrowser, comboboxes are ugly and many more....)

for example this one is near 90% complete

setting a bg_pixmap is a bad idea you will break other dialogs too(you can't see it because you use the same color for bg & base)

#qDrk is the darkest theme from Gnome-Look (I think) and I use a bg pixmap because I don't want a gray background in the theme, it's stupid but looks good and works good

Hi I've been experimenting with dark colour schemes on KDE and have been using the one called "Hallow" for a month now (personal record for any colour scheme, herh). It's pretty much perfect when combined with "Perfection" Plasma-theme.

Any suggestions about modifying dark schemes to look nice on apps like Firefox & OOo without the need to modify those apps? White/beige text is problematic.

You can use a murrine theme for gtk apps. The look of gtk apps in kde is very ugly, I don't like kde for this reason, and kde has a lot of effects and it's difficult to work with this environment, I prefer gnome :P
