Well.. what to say.. OS-X is built on BSD, so far so good. And then they totally wrecked the system. -Try start a shell and be creative.. -Noway!! Blocked, stopped and strained.

Well, try get a desent mediaplayer, like Amarok or Exaile.. -Yea right.

To put it simple, -You hate PC's, but you need one, get a apple.. its a machine that "thinks" for you, and if you ever try to tweak or make someting you whant your stuck..

Now for example, you run this little white box with version 10.3.9 on it and you find a nice app, -Stop! you need a upgrade!

-Ok fine, I run "upgrade".. hahaha!! you whant 10.4? BUY A NEW PC!! SUCKER!!

Only one thing stops me from breaking it over my knee is that ist nnot really mine, it belongs to my wife, but she never uses it, she runs a OpenSuse....

Perhaps I can chrash the system so hard I need to reinstall it.. with .. Debian =)

Well actually I just asked her, and she said "ok" with no regrets. =)

And finally I can use the little plastic box as a musik player, using Exaile.

Dude apple is based on unix. Linux is based on minux. Minux even says that it is a clone of unix. So you are saying that you hate linux, unix, and minx. Mac is basically a very polished version of linux or BSD. The stability of linux and mac is exactly the same. The speed is close. The cost is even the same if you go with some linux distributions. How dare you compare apple with crappy windows. And before you call me an apple fanboy let me tell you that I use linux and mac. I do not like windows. Mac and linux and bsd are the only systems that work. Even dos has now been infected by the piece of crap windows. I get why you would hate windows but not mac. It is a distribution of bsd witch is pretty much exactly the same thing as linux when you install gnome or kde. Have any of you ever tried mac. If you have why are you on this group I'm curious. What was so bad about mac that made you leave. You can run mac, windows, and linux programs all on one system. Is fast like linux but has the compatibility of windows. Very few software distributions don't support mac and if they do not it is usually not a good program.

and lets face it life is way better without Windows and Gates.

>Dude apple is based on unix.
-No its not, its based on FreeBSD..

>Linux is based on minux.
-No, its rewritten by Linus Torvalds loosley based on BSD..

>Minux even says that it is a clone of unix.
-Yes it is

>So you are saying that you hate linux, unix, and minx.
-Nupe..

>Mac is basically a very polished version of linux or BSD. The stability of linux and mac is exactly the same. The speed is close. The cost is even the same if >you go with some linux distributions.
-Polished perhaps if you mean strangled and tied down...

>How dare you compare apple with crappy windows.
-WOHOO! Who EVER mentioned Winows?

>And before you call me an apple fanboy let me tell you that I use linux and mac. I do not like windows.
-So?

>Mac and linux and bsd are the only systems that work.
-Mmm, no.. I use windows every day at work an it works just fine there.

>Even dos has now been infected by the piece of crap windows.
-Dos? Eeehh.. I dont quite follow you there..

>I get why you would hate windows but not mac.
-I really dislike Windows, but I hate only Mac's :)

>It is a distribution of bsd witch is pretty much exactly the same thing as linux when you install gnome or kde.
-No, on a Linux or BSD OS you can make your own tweaks, but not on a Mac.

>Have any of you ever tried mac. If you have why are you on this group I'm curious.
-I really tryed to use the iBOOK for som productive things, and I only got frustrated with it.. For several years.. It now runs Ubuntu and are just fine.

>What was so bad about mac that made you leave. You can run mac, windows, and linux programs all on one system.
>Is fast like linux but has the compatibility of windows.
-No no no, try installing Amarok or Exaile on you white little fruitbox... Or try get a desent program from "download.com" and you have the wrong version of your OS, like 10.3.9, can you get 10.4? -Nupe, you have to lighten your wallet for that.. Cool? Its really crappy, even Microsoft gives out major updates, not Apple.

>Very few software distributions don't support mac and if they do not it is usually not a good program.
-Well, I have to disagree again, most of the popular opensource programs that are wery popular dont run on Macs, or windows if you like.

Final line is: Apple had a great vison, and they killed it for design and coolness, but they shot them selves in the foot, people are not idiots, they evolve, but you cant evolve on a Mac, one day you reach the peak of what your PC allows you to do and then you realize that you have to change OS to get somewhere... Opensource it the path, feel the dark side... ;)
