 KDE Activities

Here are some screen shots of the 3 KDE activities I use in my KDE 4 sessions. One is a basic Desktop folder view with a virus wallpaper. Next the Search view with a slideshow wallpaper. And the one I use most, my Guitar Skull Desktop with icons sized per usage...

That's my current lxde desktop.
I'm not a designer so just combine different staff.

Heh I had done something similar before with a Scream (2 I think) poster as the bg.

I have a 'toggle borderless' bound to Scroll lock, to remove distracting white borders permanently. I hit that key when I need to resize the window. After resizing I switch back to borderless. Maybe lxde has something like that. Then you can have all the dark you want =)

Only in it for the eye-candy. What's *your* excuse?

That looks nice and clean...I will be moving to E17 in the near future, I just don't know when. I've been playing around with a live spin of Sabayon 5/E17 and it seems clean and stable.

The only thing I can thing of that I would have done different is add more of a drop shadow to the windows, but maybe in front of your box they look more like they float above the floor than they do in the screen shot.

The box said Windows Vista or better so I installed Sabayon 5...

and leave kde??? why would anyone wanna
do that :(

>The only thing I can thing of that I would have done different is add more of a drop shadow to the window

even more drop shadow?? I believe it's like
90% opacity on the active window ;-) so
I don't know how much more I can put,
but I know the shadows are tricky and
are very screen specific, so you have a
good point there indeed.

So is that E17 or KDE with an Enlightenment type theme in the screen shot?

BTW: I bet your windows do float over the floor better when seen on your actual monitor. ;)

The desktop is kde ofc ;-)

Prolly never gonna use nothing else,
anything else seems like a bad joke
from the nineties, especially gnome ;-)

E has some nice things tho, I'll give you that ;-)
...plus respect for them for making a
toolkit of them own.

Yeah, the windows float alright, well, I
guess I don't really have nothing to
compare to your windows.... as your
scrot didn't have any windows open,
maybe a new one in the not too far too
distant future with open windows? ;-)

I guess what I like about E is the idea that one can have a common UI on a laptop/desktop/mobile device/etc...the scalability. Also, I think when Wayland is ready for primetime, I would like to run gentoo/Wayland/E as my main system.

Here are some screen shots of windows open for ya...

I have a purple neon glow on my windows, since I have such a dark background...
http://img.znsinsite.com/ss-12-19-2010.png

If I wanna see my windows float, I just use Compiz to spin the cube...
http://img.znsinsite.com/ss-12-19-2010a.png

My laptop only has a 15" monitor with a max res of 1280X800 so multiple desktops are a must for me...

The box said Windows Vista or better so I installed Sabayon 5...
