Yeah, this is a group where I thought we could post
screenshots of our desktops. Why? well, I like looking
at other ppl's desktops and configurations, they give me
Ideas I can't possibly have with my current IQ.

So please! if you have a very nice desktop, don't be shy,
put it up here!

please use bbcode when u post, makes it easier for
other users to view ur screenshot, just put "[url]" in
front of the link and "[/url]" after... then it will look
like this http://www.link.to.ur.amazing.screenshot.html
Thank u for ur consideration!

services one can use to upload pics and then share the link:

This is one of those styles that came kinda
naturally, was just browsing wp's on devart
and accidentally created this somewhat
gray glassy desktop :)

I was looking for something sleek and sober, with lots of vertical estate since I'm on a 15" laptop.

Sure, glad you like it! ;-)

distro is Ubuntu 10.10 Gnome

Dock is AWN,theme is dust or ANewHope

Gtk & Emerald themes are ANewHope : http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Divergence+IV+-+%22A+New+Hope%22?content=133892

icon set is AwOken : http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/AwOken+-+Awesome+Token+icon+set?content=126344

You'll have to install nautilus-elementary for a nicer nautilus look.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppa
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
nautilus -q #restarts nautilus

Conky style info is in fact the sysmonitor screenlet
(sudo apt-get install screenlets on ubuntu)

I suppressed both gnome panels, everything is controlled with the dock.

I recommend you install it via ppa

Both icon set and gtk theme are customisable through a script included in the folder. Though install is a breeze, make sure you read the INSTALL files, it really helps.

I don't remember the wallpaper url, but you'll find it on gnome-look...

Cheers,

Eric

Been a while since I came on here.
A bit too busy with work and stuff.

Just wanted to say that there've been a lot of good screenshots these last 2 pages. Too many for me to individually quote. Great work, everyone. I've found quite a few ideas for future use.

Cheers. :)

 So i found a 30inch flatscreen

...and then went nuts with a dual head setup, and color! What I see mostly is one continuous desk, the left half that is, but spin the cube and I see the right half. Desks 3 and 4 reserved for gimp and occasional stuff. Since I have lots of space I can now show the timezones of my chatmates. I used to have a keybind to toggle them out of sight; who needs it now? :-) The pager on the top right lays it out.

the wall is featured as a Daily Deviation but I forgot to save it by name.

@padster: My aunt's husband had discovered a larger thinner more sctriking HD screen and bought two: one dwarfs the fireplace and another went to the master bedroom. The previous screen was moved to the guestroom where I currently reside =) and they saw it was put to good use when they saw 'widescreen' from a geek's POV. Though they have fallen on leaner times (which is a stretch for me to say), the man is looking for the next upgrade, when they bounce back.

As I can see your aunt is a very sweet woman, but why her husband is torturing her with the 30" and above!?

@padster: They have a 42 inch TV, but I don't know man, he's been looking at upwards of 70, so when he gets that contract job he's been waiting on for the longest time, watch out.

@kstrike: Come to think of it, he bought the 42" for her; he likes to use her as a convenient excuse, as in, "I bought it for her" :-) even if SHE's the one asking, "WHY did you spend $$$$!" to quickly dodge that bullet :-) How quickly it transforms to "How awfully nice of you!"
