KDE4 Sucks bigtime

Applications
Description:

KDE4 is perhaps the most useless piece of garbage I have ever used.
I never seen something as crappy as this!
For one the default interface is too vista like, and the huge panel doesn't help much.
The desktop icons are a joke, what kind of idiot interface doesnt allow icons to have more then five characters... what are we supposed to do, guess?
Plasma, seriously is this a joke or something?
I hope KDE3 sticks around for a long time, but as soon as its gone I will use gnome...
Sure its not much better, but at least it works.
I cannot say the same about this miserable excuse of a DE.

 Don't understand...

Why so angry? I can't really see a good reason for you to hate KDE4 so much.

1) What about the default interface is Vista-like? The "huge" panel can be easily changed, if that's your only gripe. I can't see anything else that resembles Vista, and even if there is something, nothing in KDE is difficult to change.

2) I'm not aware of any five-character limit, either. All of my application links, (some of which have 40+ characters) show up fine, just like in my menu. Is there a particular icon that isn't working for you?

3) This "miserable excuse of a DE" either carries over or improves upon nearly every feature of KDE3. What's more, if you prefer a KDE3 application (or a Gnome or other app, for that matter), what's stopping you from simply running your preferred version instead? I'm currently running Compiz and Firefox, neither of which have anything to do with KDE4, but I wouldn't give up Plasma or Dolphin if you payed me.

I guess I'm just trying to ask what, specifically, don't you like about KDE4? Your rant above sounds so hateful and gives so few details that I doubt anyone would take it seriously.

I just wanted to say that I never liked
kde and I didn't even bother with kde 4.
But since you put out a such strong comment
on the matter I gave it a go!

And f**k! I must say, I'm impressed, I'm thinking
about switching from gnome to kde 4 :D

Kde 4 seems to have most the things I always
missed in the gnome desktop there by default :D

So I say that there is hope for kde yet!

but kde 3, I can't really understand the
guys that use it :)

I hope you enjoy not being able to have decent sized panels, black ugly task bars and not being able to read desktop icons...
Really whats the appeal of not being able to have a DE that is customizable?
It can only use one wallpaper that makes sense with the ugly black backgrounds of the icons that if had over 5 characters can not be understood.
Whoever came up with the design idea of KDE4 is probably a moron.

What's wrong, allergic to questions? Why not reply to my comment? I was trying to avoid a two-way flame war, but it seems you are too angry about whatever misinformation you've been given to reasonably explain yourself. So instead...

This is a screenshot of KDE 4.0 as installed from the Linux Mint default repository (just installed yesterday, not familiar with names yet). I've adjusted the size of the panel slightly, and I have a number of long-named icons on the desktop. Neither of these things took more than thirty seconds to do. Also, keep in mind that this was done without the extra customization shortcuts present in KDE 4.1.

If you don't mind, could you please open this screenshot in your favorite image editor, circle the parts that "suck bigtime", and re-upload it? Since you're having a hard time expressing your complaints clearly using words, this may help us better understand how you feel about KDE4.

hmm, I don't have a problem resizing the
panel and I can have as many letters in
the icons I want :D

maybe you have some beta version of kde 4 :)

Hmm, I heard such comments really often and in different places. Forums, News-Sites, here and so on. I tried KDE 4 some months ago, 10 minutes later all apps crashed and my whole system hung, THAT'S SHIT if you use XFS! I lost my whole Firefox Configuration. Fuck.

If it's really THAT bad, why did they call it 4.0? - Because: for Users 4.0 means: First release of the 4th major series - for Developers it means a very early release stage of the 4th major series - That's a big difference. Calling it 3.99 would have been better.

Now I'm using Linux since 4 years. The first half year KDE but I didn't like it -> so I'm using GNOME since 3.5 years. First I also thought It has almost now options and possibilities - after a bit of research that changed.

Using a Distributors Setup of GNOME doesn't cover all opportunities - btw it's the same with KDE.

-- And: If you switch to GNOME, replace that Metastasis WindowManager with Sawfish!

I'm bigger and boulder and rougher and tougher in other words sucker there is no other
