 Foresight...

...seems to be one of the most intresting
distro actually offering some new stuff,
I don't get why it doesn't get more focus?

I've been meaning to try it out for like
a few months now (I just tested it quickly
last time) but I'm just too lazy.

If I suddenly get a rush of linux distro-hopping
foresight will def be the first one I give
a chance!

//Robert

PS. last time I installed foresight from
the install DVD it installed in 6 min flat!
Beat that!

Its a perfect time to try out Foresight any day now. As Foresight 2.0.2 will be released.

And i agree, foresigt should get more focus. But thats happening now:

Sounds deliscious!!!!

is the gui for conary better now?

I would have a hard time giving up
synaptic!

aptitude was like package manager nr1 until
I heard of conary, but the gui was a little
bit "unpolished" and could have used more
features, please share your experiencis :)

since the foresight isn't available as a live cd
I would have to give up my current system
to test it!

appreciate the group man!

I just switched from Ubuntu, and dispite a few teething problems, Foresight has worked out marvelously for me. While the theme is clearly just a green Ubuntu theme (not necessarily a bad thing though), it's not difficult to fix (I use SlicknesS religiously ;-) ). My only gripe with conary is the lack of a feature similar to "apt-get source", though there is "conary emerge" which downloads the source and immediately builds it for you, which is nice if you just want the optimizations, but not so much if you want to patch it first :-/ Other than that, and my friend's unfortunate tendency to call it "Foreskin Linux," it is a great distro!

P.S. I have some ideas for your SlicknesS theme if you'd like to hear them

Hehe! Foreskin linux! good one :D

Glad to hear other ubuntu users have
done the switch!

The conary emerge thingy sounds very exciting!

I have my /home folder mounted on a separate
partition, so that when I re-install I
don't have to redo all my settings, do you
think that this will work with foreskin also? ;D

Thank you for still using my slickness
theme ( same goes for user zinden, thank
you guys for you kind words!! really
appreciated!)
as for the development, I have kinda
given up on it ( since I'm working on
another theme now) , but if you have
some great ideas I'm willing to ear you
ofc, but also, you are free to further
develope the theme yourself!
I know the code is a mess so please
feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Im unsure, ubuntu uses UID 500 and Foreskin uses UID 1000
i think....maybe look around about it?

Im only using FL and im pleased so far, will be even more pleased when newest gnome comes first in Foresight.

G*****nit!

I tried out the newest foresight... and it
has that stuped kernel bug (2.6.25.4) that
makes my system randomly hang!
Sometimes I just got to the login screen,
then shit happens, sometimes I actually
logged in and clicked a menu, then shit happened :D

I tried the older version too, but there
my networking card didn't work, so I'm
guessing I'm shit out of luck for the moment!

My interest fro this distro is going nowhere
tho,
I am patiently waiting for the next release!

 Foresight looks for new theme

Foresight developers are looking for getting a new default theme for the distro.

Maybe someone tries to make a nice green one, better the one it has and maybe it gets to be the default one.

That would be a good promotion for the theme.
