Maybe you can help me here.. using evolution email in ubuntu, everything sets up fine with the exception of the smtp side. can receive email but can not send.. any ideas would be great

I have a compaq EvoN600c I recived from a freind, anyhow I installed Xubuntu 8.04 and everything is goin good except my mouse cursor mysteriously moves to the left of the screen and will stay there for 2-3 min sometimes then all of a sudden its ok. Its a frustrating problem too say the least. Please, can anyone help me from having to return, to the resource intensive world of windows......

Hi!
You mean Ubuntu, right? It's not hard to try Ubuntu out!

First step is to get the Ubuntu CD. You can do it for three ways:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu

Second step is running Ubuntu - place Ubuntu CD in your CD-Drive and:
1. Run the Ubuntu CD from Windows - You can install Ubuntu under the Windows partition, and it will work almost like existing installation - only hard-drive access will be slower.
2. Set your boot device to CD-Rom (might be set already), and reboot your computer - the LiveCD mode, that won't make any changes on your Hard-drive if You don't want to, will appear. It's really slower than existing installation, but you can try out applications and interface.

Just wanted too say thanx for your quick respone to his question. Ubuntu is a great product however if you have a decent graphics card I would recomend Kubuntu, same site or go too

Well, why not, but first time I tried KDE I felt a bit lost. So Xubuntu and Kubuntu I recommend for users who tried Ubuntu with GNOME, that is simplest desktop environment.
Yes, for me, more experienced user, GNOME is too simple, not so much configurable as Xfce and KDE.

Well I just did the impossible and I created an installation. On my own after all these years of trying. It is called Freespire and is seems like the easies Linux I have ever tried to install. It says that it is based on Ubantu and Debian or something that. Now I am wondering if I could still be a part of this group?

This is mysterious, exciting and fascinating. First I found eyeOS then about a week later I found Freesire. A couple of days after that, while checking out the Freespire desktop I some got to this site http://www.kde-look.org and I was able to log in using the same user name and password that I use for the eyeOS application web site http://www.eyeos-apps.org/. There to be some relationship between these three entities, eyeOS, KDE, and Freespire?
