 CPU Heat

Hello Everyone!

I have used VirtualBox for some time now and have tried Qemu, VMware, and Parallels. I am currently running VirtualBox 1.6 which is the first release since Sun acquired Innotec.

I have a question for everyone! I have noticed my CPU temperature seem to jump up pretty high when running a virtual machine. I am assuming because I am putting a high demand on my CPU but I getting these temps even at idle. My temps usually idle at 38-42 degrees C. When I am running a virtual machine at idle (both guest and host) my temps are 56-58 degrees C.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Here are my Specs.
2.4Ghz Intel Quad Core Q6600
with VT and G0 Stepping
4GB 800Mhz RAM
512 ATI PCI-Express Video Card
Intel Extreme MB
950Watt P.S.

No and my specs are not even half as good as yours. I can't really help you with your problem as I don't know what could be wrong.

Hello and thanks

Well, it depends of the memory quantity you allow to the Virtual machine.

If you allow more than 1Go to your virtual machine, the computer will start to swap, and it is not really good there. Remember to check your video card memory on the VM, because the graphic desktop pump directly on the physical RAM memory and not (as we could think) at the Graphical Card Ram.

And do not forget that when you start a Virtual Machine, you don't have one computer to support but two computers. With a desktop support, you split the performance by 3 .

I See you have VT... interesting. What about using Xen? Does Virtualbox support the complete OS virtualisation?

Then, me I've a Debian SID on VM, and it works.

Well , bread on the plate. Working after my afternoon snoozzZZZZ....

Just to say that we use it. It's all.
